Ted Rhodes Golf Course
About
Ted Rhodes Golf Course sits on the Cumberland River's North Nashville banks, and was originally named the Cumberland Golf Course, after that body of water, back when it only had nine holes, first laid out way back in 1953. A 1992 redesign added nine more holes, and nowadays golfers get 18 holes of links-style golf, complete with lakes and bunkers that make for good times. Big greens provide big targets for approaches on this walkable golf course.
The par-72 Ted Rhodes Golf Course measures 6,669 yards from the Blue tees, and offers a fourth set of tees that play to 5,010 yards for the ladies. A round of golf kicks off big on a par-5 hole that comes in at 555 yards from the Blue tee, one of two long holes, with the back nine also opening on a 534-yard hole. With that in mind, the golf course concludes with a relative whimper, on a par-4 hole that measures just 432 yards from the Blue tee.
Something to look for on the Ted Rhodes Golf Course is the fauna: Turtles, fish, muskrats and beavers all make their homes in the golf course's lakes and river.

Sunday at TR
Fairways and greens in good shape. Lot of the bunkers were unraked. Lots of water made it challenging.
Course is worth the money
Single paired up with a 2some, don’t mind. I knew there was a good chance we might get rained out. It held off til 9th and never let up. Didn’t get to finish but the course was nice. Will return.
Good Value
Fun track, it helped plying with others that knew the course. Lots of hazard areas not visible from the tee, yardage markers helped make manageable first round. Easy location and great price for what you get, back 9 pretty cool.
Ted Rhodes is great!
Course is in great condition, great value and the staff was great!
Stay in the fairway
Although the course is not long if you get out of the fairway you will find trouble. Many of the holes are either lined with water, trees or sand.
Slow Pace
A group of 5 with each in their own carts was in front of my 3 some. The marshal talked to them more than once and they would speed up temporarily, then slow back down. They never offered to let us play thru. The course was in good shape and the greens were in great shape.
The course is in pretty good shape for the beginning of the season. It should come in fine by late Spring. Fun course and some nice locals to play with if you need or want to. The back can get a bit soggy if it’s been raining for a cpl/few days
Hit or miss
The course itself is pretty great. Challenging, and the greens are pretty hard to read. But the pace of play was ridiculous. There were 7 people in 1 grouping and 6 in another. I believe it was a group of 20/25 people playing together for money, but they were unbelievably slow, inconsiderate, and were actually jerks.
The staff was not very nice either. At least the two guys at the front weren’t. The food bar guy and golf cart guy were cool, but the, who I’m assuming was the manager and assistant manager, we’re fairly disrespectful. I understand a busy day could cause some tension, but it’s your job and I’m sure it wasn’t your first busy day. The manager was okay I suppose, but the other guy was not.
Nice Recovery
Three weeks ago this course was closed for 6 days following massive flooding in Nashville. It has rebounded nicely. My 4-some enjoyed the course with one recommendation, include some type of course map with the score card. It was our first time on course and we unknowingly found creeks and water. The large greens were really nice; putts seemed to roll true. Kudos to the Nashville Park service; we also played a fun round at McCabe Golf Course
Good Local option
Fun round, fair but also challenging. No driving range but that staff was very accommodating.
Ted Rhodes Review
The Ted Rhodes Golf Course is an enjoyable Nashville Public option. The front 9 gives golfers from different skill levels an opportunity to stay in the hole regardless of their path of the tee. The back 9 forces some shot shapes that and distances that may be difficult for the high handicap. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. Pace of play can get slow at times on the weekend. Conditions are fair. Overall a fun place and a great place to grow your golf game.
