Holes 18
Type Public/Municipal
Style Links
Par 72
Length 6669 yards
Slope 120
Rating 71.8

Ted Rhodes Golf Course sits on the Cumberland River's North Nashville banks, and was originally named the Cumberland Golf Course, after that body of water, back when it only had nine holes, first laid out way back in 1953. A 1992 redesign added nine more holes, and nowadays golfers get 18 holes of links-style golf, complete with lakes and bunkers that make for good times. Big greens provide big targets for approaches on this walkable golf course.

The par-72 Ted Rhodes Golf Course measures 6,669 yards from the Blue tees, and offers a fourth set of tees that play to 5,010 yards for the ladies. A round of golf kicks off big on a par-5 hole that comes in at 555 yards from the Blue tee, one of two long holes, with the back nine also opening on a 534-yard hole. With that in mind, the golf course concludes with a relative whimper, on a par-4 hole that measures just 432 yards from the Blue tee.

Something to look for on the Ted Rhodes Golf Course is the fauna: Turtles, fish, muskrats and beavers all make their homes in the golf course's lakes and river.

Great value

This course, while not maintained like a private club, is a lovely challenging gem and I paid $9 on GolfNow. Greens were good, fairways were fine and layout was great. No complaints except the bring your own balls to range thing which was weird. I’d play it ten more times and still have money for beers after.

Take a Chance on Ted Rhodes Course

Being from out of state it's a shot in the dark to find a great course at a good price. Made reservations on golfnow but if you don't get hotdeals price just call the club house for tee time and ask about matching the hotdeals price. You might not get all the discount but it's worth asking. 2 days of heavy rain during the week playing Sat the course was in great shape and the greens are rolling true.

Water Water All the Rround

I have played Ted Rhodes many times over the past 30 years. I almost always walk with a push cart. The course is extremely flat for Middle Tennessee. There are numerous ponds and creeks on the course, in play on most holes, plus a river bordering several holes. The fairways are open and forgiving. The greens are consistently firm and fast. The staff is professional. This is a municipal course and gets a lot of play but is well maintained.

Not A Bad Course!

I played here recently and thought it was not a bad course at all. The tee boxes were well-groomed, and the fairways were as well. The rough had dead spots and crabgrass but was still playable. The greens weren't the fastest, but they rolled extremely well. My only complaint is that hole 10 and 11 are half a mile apart from each other. It's not a big deal if you are riding, but it is if you are walking. Overall, I enjoyed playing here and will be back soon.

Course is enjoyable but had a terrible experience. Will not come back.

Staff allowed three groups of 5 to play their own scramble in front of me and my partner. After about a 3 hour front 9, one guy from the fivesome in front of us said we could play through. As I teed off, the rest of his crew came running from the clubhouse yelling at us saying that we couldn’t play through. They were also heckling my partner who is new to the game after he topped his ball into the water. Later the group in front of them approached us and asked how we got behind them and said that they absolutely will not let us play through and that our only option is to skip some home holes and then circle back to play the ones we missed.

It absolutely killed our experience there and we will not come back to this course. I’ve heard of this sort of thing happening to other people at this course as well.

Also, the guy at the counter acted like it was putting him out so much to have to type in my card number after my magnetic strip wasn’t swiping.

Seems like Ted Rhodes perpetuates the narrative that golf is a closed sport for a certain type of person and doesn’t really care to make a point to welcome outsiders that aren’t already a part of their circle. Next time we will be going to either McCabe or Shelby.

The course was decent. Did not know where to go on hole #8. The course was not as good as 2 Rivers. Very under stocked Pro Shop. The hot dogs were old. Would not drive across town for this course

West Nashville’s Best Kept Secret

Fun layout that’s challenging, but fair. New greens held up through the wet winter and are in fantastic shape. Fairways getting greener by the day. Friendly, accommodating staff has made me a Ted Rhodes loyalist for life. No question, best value for the money.

The Ted

Great course, accommodating staff. Water can be in play on 80% of holes which maybe a challenge for beginners, but overall a fair track.

Bermuda greens are some of the best in town for a public facility.

Highly recommend any visitors to Nashville to give it a try befor venturing on a higher value course.
