Will not go back
I heard that a couple of years ago it was a bad course and they had changed management. Had to see for myself, there club house burnt Down this year. So I will not judge on that, the course however was in very bad shape all except for the greens. I will not be going to that course again.
Average
Being a beginner golfer, I decided to play this course due to how close it is to my home in murfreesboro . I've played a few of the courses locally and decided to try somewhere new since I learned about golfnow.com over the holidays. I went on a very cold day with not another golfer in sight, which I rather enjoyed since I brought my fiance, who likes to drive the cart and see the the scenery. The course was in rough shape but was to be expected being the season but the greens impressed me being well maintained for the most part except a giant hole on 17. I cant speak to the difficulty since I'm new a consistently bad on all courses, though I did find a few holes fun and easy for me so I'm sure a good golfer could shoot well. The course did have a neighborhood being constructed within it and was unsightly with pipes and giant mounds of dirt being spread around, but the course was well spread out and you don't see it constantly. The staff was somewhat rude making us wait when nobody was clearly there, but I don't worry about that much as I'm always nice. The carts are gas and loud which annoyed me some, on a full day I imagine it would sound like a go-cart track. Their club house was burned some time back so they were operating out a shed but was fine with no traffic on the day I chose. Overall I would recommend playing it for the money if you were close. I wouldn't rate it a "must see" or "must play" course. If your thinking of wasting the gas to travel for it, you could just play somewhere else and get the same experience.
Punched greens
Greens had been punched. Was not made aware of this when booking tee time. Most courses on GolfNow have an "aerification notice" when booking which plays a part in decision to play the course.
Staff/attendant was less than friendly..
Excellent greens
This course is rough around the edges and in some spots in the MIDDLE! But pace of play is great and some of the best greens you will play on in the mid state!!!! A very good lay out, it just needs Tlc
Not a great course
This course needs work in order to really make it enjoyable.
The traps have no sand except for one, which had not been raked at all..
There was oil drips on the greens from the mower. The greens were very bumpy and the ball hopped often on all four of the holders playing in our group.
The fairways were not mowed very close, in fact, my playing partner lost 2 balls after he drove in the fairway.
Most of the views were beautiful.
The people were very friendly and I hope that they can make any necessary changes to make this a better course
Course has potential but needs a lot of care
Some 7 weeks ago their clubhouse burned and so they are operating in a temporary space. They have no food other than chips and crackers. This could be dismissed. Also on a positive note the course layout is nice and challenging. The greens are good sized, soft and in good shape. But the rest of the course is is really sad shape. The sand bunkers are all grown up with weeds such that there really isn't any sand bunkers. The fairways and rough are mowed correctly but have lots of weeds. We paid about $16 each for this and that is about all that it is currently worth. I hope that in the future they clean this course up.
Nice course, cool features
Nice course, with a backdrop on the hills. Bunkers were not kept up, but clubhouse was burned down recently so they are running out of a maintenance building. Overall fun course
Your basic "country" course
Friendly staff. Grounds crew were friendly and professional. The course has a lot of potential, but needs some TLC. Nice layout - I would'nt pay over $25 to play.
Best deal in golf!
$27 to ride 18? Great deal! Most other places around charge at least $40. Greens in superior shape. Fairways are very good. However, the sand traps have little or no sand and have weeds/rocks/other materials in them. Club house burned down. Makeshift club house isn't ideal but it is functional (no biggie).
Huge pluses: price, greens (great shape and challenging even for the best putters), pace of play, scenery/wildlife (I saw a fox, a hawk and a disemboweled rabbit). Interesting holes.
Minor drawbacks: very bad sand traps, ghetto club house.
Overall: 4 out of 5 stars! Never been? You must try it out!
Time to give Blackberry Ridge another chance
If you played Blackberry Ridge a few years ago and got turned off by the course conditions and staff, then nobody can blame you for not wanting to go back. But now is the time to give the course another shot. The owner's rude son is gone and its now run by the Phillips family and they are turning things around for the better. The fairways are improving and the greens are near perfect. Only thing that needs work are the bunkers but that will come around. The loss of the club house was a temporary setbad but they will recover from that. It's time to give Blackberry Ridge another shot!
The Ridgeeeeee!!!!
Me and my friends say this course is one of the toughest test for a average golfer. Why is that.... this course offers of the most unique holes/ course condition you will ever play.
I love playing this course because you could hit a perfectly good drive down the middle and there could be a giant rock/dyed up fairway and the ball kicks 30 yards right into the woods. On the same hand you hit the an awful shot and it kicks dead-left on to the green 5 feet from the hole. The greens always seem to roll at different speeds and elevation. I love the course for these very reasons, because I understand the course doesn't have a ton of money to keep up with all the maintenance cost (good greens, smooth bunkers, blush fairways, etc.) so this course has some amazing holes and other holes that are in awful shape.
I also love the Par-5's, so are longer than others, I believe the 9th hole is a long 5 that I have eagle before due to dry conditions and my drive rolled out about 60 yards.
I think everyone who plays golf in the middle TN area should play the Blackberry RIDGE because I can promise you haven't experience anything like it.
And on top of everything else, it is super value. Usually under $25 or under for 18 with a cart. I love the "Ridge" and encourage all to play. I wish I lived closer.
GREAT COURSE WIYHOUT THE CROWD
TGE COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE THE FAIRWAYS WERE GREAT, THE GREENS WERE PERFECT, WAS NOT CROWDED, THEY HAVE UPGRADED ALOT, NICE NEW GOLF CARTS. I WOULD GIVE IT A 8 OUT OF 10
course in rough shape
I know this course is going through hard times since they lost their clubhouse do to fire, but they have let this course really go down hill. the greens are the only decent thing about this course now. Fairways are really bare, bunkers may as well not even exist, and the tee boxes are pretty rough themselves. We played 18 holes and the only water coolers were on two holes so bring your own if its hot. The refreshment girl came around one time and it was on the third hole and we never seen her again. Dont have to worry about my group going back for awhile
ROUGH
WOW......not looking good for this facility. The sense of arrival is nonexistent. Tee boxes, fairways, and bunkers are unplayable. I gave 2 stars on conditions because the greens were obviously getting fair attention. It was a comical golf experience.
good course for local play
played 18 holes with my son. he is just learning so course was hard enough for a challenge and easy enough not to demoralize him. We played 18 holes in 3 hours which was perfect.
Horrible
Very very very very Very very Horrible fairway and tee box.
not a great course but CHEAP
It's A Ok Course But For The Price U Csnt Beat It. Pluse Its Quite There Peaceful And Always Has A Cool Breeze. I Play There All The Time Cause I Can Afford To And Thats Why I Lije it
Descent Course
Descent course for the price. Fairly challenging. Nice views.
Course needs a lot of work
This was my first time playing this course and was excited. When I arrived, I was greeted by a less than pleasant female worker in the pro shop. No attendant at the snack bar.
The course layout was exceptional when the course was first designed. For whatever reason now, it is in need of a major overall. Many of the sandbunkers have grass growing in them. There is major trenches throughout many of the fairways for some type of project ongoing. The fairways were in poor shape. The greens were fair for this time of year.
I travel a lot and use golfnow to book the majority of my tee times. I would suggest you remove this course from your inventory until the major overhauls needed at the course is complete. I would hate to see another loyal subscriber be disappointed.
