Having opened in 2014, Sweetens Cove Golf Club is nestled in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. In a town with a population of roughly 3,000 people, this nine-hole course wasn’t built like most golf courses. Featured in a New York Times Article, architect and owner-operator Rob Collins hired a crew and spent roughly $1 million to build the course from scratch, without help from any golf course design firms. Players can walk the course for $25, or for $35 can take out a cart to play. If you’ve got a lot of time on your hands, you can play the course all day with a cart for only $100. Prepare to bring some breakfast for the breakfast ball, because there’s no clubhouse to get food, only a shed where you check-in. What makes this course fun is players get a little taste of everything. From drivable par 4s, to lengthy and hilly greens, expect everything but the kitchen sink. Since its opening, several household names have joined Collins’ to be an investor including Peyton Manning and Andy Roddick.

Course in transition

First of all, this is a 9 hole course, which wasn't clear when I booked. It was recently purchased in October 2014 and the new owners are bringing the course back. I did love the situation of the course...beautiful scenery and some really nice natural hazards. I recomment it with the caveat that people realize it is a nine hole AND is not up to the condition it will be, hopefully soon. It was overpriced for the condition - I had just paid the same price for some beautiful Florida courses. There is no clubhouse yet, no bathrooms, no signs for holes yet. However, I would like to golf there again when it's "refinished".

Great Golf Course

This course is a great and a fun golf course to play. I drive from the Nashville area and it is well worth the drove. It is a very unique course with wonderful bunkering and large undulating greens. It is truly a masterpiece. It is a must play.

Great And Fun Golf Course

Sweetens Cove is one of the most fun golf courses you can play. It has many unique features which really set the course apart. It has a Biarritz green, a Redan green on one of the best short holes you will ever play, a Cape hole, a boomerang green ( Alister Mackinzie would approve ), and many other such features. The bunkering will take you back to Scotland. You must continually be thinking as to where the next shot will best be played. Approach shots left on the wrong part of these greens could cost you dearly. Overall, this is a course that you will want to play time and time again. It is a must play!

The course just opened so permanent facilities are not in place which is why I put the rankings I did for facilities.
However, I don't care about those things, for me it is all about the golf and that could not be any better.
