Great Place to Learn

I've spent the summer at this course learning to play golf. The people are nice. You can't beat the price. You never feel rushed. Granted, It's not the nicest conditions,..be prepared for some sketchy greens.

But it is what it is, and it doesn't pretend to be anything more. If you are looking for a place to learn, without a bunch of people hurrying your pace, this is a great place. Don't hold it to the standard of the country clubs.

City Park pretending to be a golf course

This is the doggiest of of dog tracks I've ever seen or played in the entire country! Like another user stated, lack of signage make it hard to even find the first tee. The course set-up is super confusing because of the lack of signage and different tee boxes. The course is tightly squished together and it feels that way. Patches of missing grass on the greens and just playground grass cut at somewhat a different length for rough and fairways.

The club house is another story, it looked and smelled like the 1970s!

Twilight was $15 for golf and the cart. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DONT GOLF HERE. SPEND $5 more and go to Monte Cristo for a real golf course and not a city park.

The City of Edinburg seriously needs to shut this place down and do a thorough renovation and redesign. Or just save some money, put the park benches, and a play ground in and call it a city park.

Needs some work

Lack of signage made it hard to figure out where next tee box was. Lots of uneven ground (ruts, deep tire marks) in some areas. The club house looks like it hasn't been shown any care since the course opened in 1927 !!!

To many tee times

I like going through golfnow to reserve my tee time but this course apparently doesn't follow tee times and its play as you come. Had to wait to long to tee off.

Over all nice course for the price

Other than the establishment has no idea if one booked T time on the internet so it is possible to over load or over book certain T times at once. 1 paid $10 plus fee do its was well worth the price.

Stay away

Worst track I have ever played. design, conditions, were all poor. There are some loyalists- spoke with one in the parking lot. "Once the clover dies out its a good course" Clover in patches was 4" high! without ranting about mud, ruts, lack of grass: If you have never played here, DON'T

Walked

old municipal course

This course and clubhouse have seen its better days but for the price it is worth the play. I've always been able to slip in 18 without a reservation and completed the round in about 3 hours. There is a good/large chipping and putting area if a local wanted to slip in some practic during lunch hour or after work. It's not a resort course but I'm told that some good players and high school championship teams have called Ebony home.

Relaxing and good timing

Need to spend time on the greens, they in bad putting shape.

I lost my balls in the fairway several times as the grass was high.

With a little maintenance it could be a great relaxing, centrally located course.
