Located in San Marcos, Quail Creek Country Club offers classic central-Texas golf. The scenic Hill Country terrain provides the layout with an abundance of trees, clear blue lakes, and tall, lush grasses. The trees line the fairways and water hazards come into play on several holes. There are also bunkers and grassy waste areas carefully guarding most of the greens. The challenging course is a formidable test for even skilled golfers but four sets of tees allow players of all skill levels to adjust the round to their own handicap. In addition to the course, Quail Creek Country Club also offers a large practice range for golfers to use.

Little furry
Greens need mowing and the fairways were long as well. With a little attention the course would be 5 stars across the board
Course needs to return to pasture
Horrible course conditions. Unbelievably terrible.
In 30+ years of playing golf I've never walked off of a course before and asked for a refund, until today after 5 holes.
Tee boxes are ankle high grass, some higher. 1st tee was the best, mid shoe.
Greens are like trying to land a ball in a parking lot, uneven concrete being the best description. However, on the green it's like putting through a gravel flower bed, but bumpier.
4th hole, towering PW hit center green approximately 10 feet in front of pin and shot off like a rocket almost hitting player on next tee box. With a pitching wedge from 145 YARDS. Ricocheted off 30 YARDS BEHIND THE GREEN.
Fairways are the equivalent of deep rough on most courses, in some areas just below the knee IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRWAY! There is actually no difference between FAIRWAY and rough.
Quit on 5th hole after beautiful drive straight down the middle and couldn't find the ball IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRWAY. Another player saw my shot, complimented my swing and shot, and tried to help me find the ball to no avail. He couldn't believe the conditions either. Multiple players commenting how bad the course looked.
Played this course 5-6 months ago and it wasn't this bad. Very apologetic lady in pro shop, and gave me Full refund, but couldn't answer as to why it's so bad.
I asked if their mower was broken?!??
She couldn't answer me.
I recommend that you pay an extra $15 and play Plum Creek in Kyle. Mid $30 for this course is robbery with these conditions.
Go out in a cow pasture and hit your balls to disappear or go hit balls out of the highway median, it's about the same as most of this course.
Bad Greens
Greens are awful, very patchy, ball would hop all over, after 2nd hole just called it a 2 putt and moved on. Hold course look like it needed mowing.
Pretty good for Winter Conditions
Fairways were in good shape and rough easier to play out of because of the winter conditions.
The greens were pretty rough, but again winter.
I wan to come back in late spring to play again.
Quail Creek
I would recommend this course to the beginner golfer. This course had it’s heyday but it’s not now. Though the staff was great and the 19th hole is awesome if u can get a round for about $25 then it beats not playing.
Going downhill
This course used to be above average! Not sure what happened but the course is going downhill...which is too bad! Fairways are dry and hard, the greens are in horrible condition along with some of the course still in bad shape due to flooding! Not to mention the hogs that come in and tear up the course! All this and they went up in price?? Doesn’t make sense!
Nice course but exceptionally poor greens!!
This course could use a lot of TLC. Fairways were good but the greens were exceptionally poor. They need to be torn up and replanted!!
It’s been better
I’ve played this course a dozen times. This time fairways were garbage, greens were worst I’ve seen from this place. It’ll be a while before I go back.
The course wasn't too bad, the fairways and rough were in good shape but some of the greens had some grass issues. They could do some more work on some bunkers and ponds but overall it was a good time.
Poor conditions
The whole course was dried out. Greens were very poor and needed water badly. The rough was cow pasture like. A very disappointing experience. The highlights were a decent practice range and chipping green.
Front 9 ok/ back 9 going south
course seems always hard to maintain. Back 9 is where it most notable. I wouldn't pay full price, that for sure.
Nice lay out
It is a fun lay out but not well maintained . Tee boxes need to be mowed , would help if fairways were mowed a little tighter, greens are extremely slow. Bring a hammer to get your tee in. For 21 dollars it is as good as you can expect .
Great value
Course was in great condition. My son and I both enjoyed this course. Looking forward to take the drive from San Antonio to San Marcos again.
Small greens challenging your short gaming.
I usually hit around 100. I played the blue tees. The fairways are wide open. However, some big trees are located at annoying places to make troubles for me that I may need to layup a shot to avoid hitting the branches. The fairway condition is not very good. Maybe because I played after a rainy Saturday. The greens are really small which is typical for courses of somw history. It really requires a lot of my short game, especially the 10-20yards chipping. The pace is good. We 2some walked 4 hours for the 6600 blue tees. Would recommend if you have a college student ID, 16.5 for walking 18 holes.
Getting better but still needs work
The course conditions are getting better but the greens are still lumpy and do not roll very well. For 15.00 to 20.00 it's not a bad deal.
Nice course
Nice honest course with wide fairways very forgiving. Green run true and are in good shape with the exception of a lot of falling leaves on the greens. Some construction on some of the water hazzards. Would recommend.
Thanks for the info I was thinking about trying this course but with your information I will be looking elsewhere thank you again
