Located in San Marcos, Quail Creek Country Club offers classic central-Texas golf. The scenic Hill Country terrain provides the layout with an abundance of trees, clear blue lakes, and tall, lush grasses. The trees line the fairways and water hazards come into play on several holes. There are also bunkers and grassy waste areas carefully guarding most of the greens. The challenging course is a formidable test for even skilled golfers but four sets of tees allow players of all skill levels to adjust the round to their own handicap. In addition to the course, Quail Creek Country Club also offers a large practice range for golfers to use.

great value
You cannot beat the GolfNow special Hot Deal at $15! Course not great but worth it at this price. Friendly staff, pace of play good even on the weekends, very laid back atmosphere. Go Play!
Just a good day for golf
Everything was comfortable and non-eventful. Just a nice relaxing day of golf.
Great Course for the Money
Quail Creek is a great place to play and/or practice for the money. The staff is unbelievably nice and helpful, it is like a small family there at the course. Due to the price, the people, the course and easy pace of play I became a member. I have not encountered a single arrogant player on the course, everyone seems down to earth and out there to enjoy the game of golf. The course is well taken care of for the price you pay to play.
This course was a pleasant surprise.
Fairways and greens in good condition. Club selection off the tee is critical as the course is short. Over driving will land you in trouble on many holes.
Course provided a yardage book with the layout of each hole that was very helpful in this regard..
Not terrible, not great
Course was in decent shape. Pretty open, but had some huge holes in fairway. about a foot wide and 2ft deep. They also could not figure out how to ring up the GolfNow price, so ended up paying more than booked for. Guy was friendly, just not competent.
Stay away! Cow pasture.
What a dump!
Tee boxes are overgrown and appear not to have cut in weeks The fairways can hardly be referred to as such. They're barely distinguishable from the rough replete with weeds, large bare areas and weeks old divots.
The greens are absurdly slow, more suitable to croquet than putting.
The Usual Quail Creek
I went out and shot 93. I play this course because I just love the game. Fairways are not kept, but greens were in decent shape. No need to drive from Austin or San Antonio to play here. Golfnow had a weekend deal for $27 and so I took the deal. Usual weekend rate is 39+ tax. Overpriced for the type of conditions its in.
Hunting at Quail Creek GC
We had a fantastic time on and off the course. As for the hunting, - that was the 3 balls I lost in the long grass along 16 & 17 - I hate when you pull one left and do that again twice off the 17 tee.
That was my error - the course was great in the eyes of a winter Texan
Bad back then ... still bad now
Had hoped that with the recent flooding and rain that the course would be better than it was last time I played there (years ago) ... but it wasn't. Not worth the drive even for a cheap round.
Replay in order
Love the layout, used every club in the bag. Fairways were in bad shape but greens were great, had to get used to the turtle back design. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The drive was worth the price, I'll play it again.
Don't Want to Be Harsh
But for a Country Club, the course could be a bit better and have a better layout. There's no sign to tell you what hole you are on, you have to rely heavily on your scorecard and there's no yardage marker on the course (i.e. 200, 150, 100 etc.). I will say, for a week after the floods, the course was in really good condition. Only one hole that I can think of that had a downed tree and stump that might have impeded play. The staff was very friendly and had plenty of beverage with food options. Only one stall for the men's restroom though? Unless there was more in the locker room.
Not bad for the price
Not a bad course for the price. Took my GF out to play and it's not bad. Fairways on the front mine are better then the back nine but decent course. I will be coming back to play again
Quail Creek
Keep looking for somewhere else to play. Fairways are burnt, Sunday was overbooked with multiple 5-domes and it took 3 hrs to play 12 holes. There is better value in the area.
Quail Creek
Overbooked with 3 fivesomes on a Sunday. Course was parched and I would drive another 30 miles for the same money if I had to do it again.
surprisingly fun course!
i know, i know, i know...this course gets downgraded for conditioning...and there were some holes on the back that suffered a lack of fairway grass...and they could certainly run the mowers out a bit to make the place look clean...but i had a blast! the front was in very good shape, especially the fairways...the greens were a bit sandy due to being punched maybe 3 weeks ago...but the layout on the front was a lot of fun...and the back offered a fun challenge...
i drove in from bastrop, and i didnt feel like i was disappointed at all...imho, it's worth playing once or twice a year w/ a 44mi drive...
good course
I really enjoy the course but the day was hot. I reserved the day and tee time as a birthday gift for my son-in-law. He had a happy birthday gift playing and wants to go back.
Excellent course and great price
The front 9 was beautiful and very well maintained! The back 9 had a few rough spots in the fairways but overall a great course! I would go back and play again I really enjoyed it! Staff was very friendly and willing to help if needed.
Could be better
Pace of play was grossly slow, most of the other players weren't wearing a collered shirt, no marshals, no beverage cart, seems like a lot of the players were college kids with zero regard for anyone else on the course, poor choice of food, ordered 3 hotdogs took 15 min to get them. The course wasn't in bad shape, the tee boxes were a little over grown. Would NOT recommend.
Great Course
This is a great course for any level golfer. They always take good care of the course and facilities. We will play this one many more times.
