Crater Springs Golf Course
Formerly named The Homestead, Crater Springs Golf Course is located in Midway, a secluded valley between Heber and the wasatch Mountains. It was designed by Senior PGA Tour player Bruce Summerhays who lives in the area. With countryside property overlooked by 10,000 foot mountains he had a very scenic canvas to build upon. The finished course winds past red barns and meadows, up and down hills and across streams and gullies.

Great top notch course!
Great course layout, beautiful course, lot of wildlife to seen.
Great course. Needs more drinkable water on the course
Best of Class in Golf Resorts in Utah!
We played in nearly perfect morning conditions from the Blue tees at 6,524 yards 71.1/133.
Crater Springs Golf Course is the resort course for the venerable Homestead Resort. It is the perfect amenity in this mountain side location. The resort is manager by one of the all time greats of resort management, Paul Christensen, who made our round happen at last minute.
Crater Springs is named due to the thermal springs in a crated located on property. The course is routed up the mountainside then down through a flat land that used to be marshes.
The course is the perfect resort course in that the there is a tee for everyone. The fairways are wide and the greens hold. Bunkering is not ridiculously hard. The course conditions were fantastic. The course gets a lot of rounds played and the team maintains excellent form.
I recommended a couple of nights stay at the Homestead. Play the resort course and maybe one or two of the local state park course close by (Wasatch Mountain and Soldier Hollow). Easily the top resort choice in the State of Utah!
Good course in a great location
Today was the 3rd time in the past 6 years we have played the course. We are vacationing in the area.
The course has a nice layout and is in good condition especially the greens. High recommend playing this course.
Scheduled a Tee Time the weekend before the Fourth of July. The resort was crowded however Tee Times were on schedule. Course was great and staff was friendly. The Pro Shop has great golf attire.
Challenging course, excellent experience
I play Crater Springs a few times every year because it tests a golfer’s skill; a beautiful course with varying degrees of difficulty that will have you use every club in your bag; already looking forward to my next round to see if I can conquer it.
Fun course with beautiful valley and mountain views
This was the first time I played this course and this course was very good condition (especially for early spring golf). The greens were in excellent condition and were firm, and smooth. It was a challenge to get a ball to stop on the greens due to their firmness.
The fairways were excellent especially since it was early spring and the grass has not yet fully grown in..
The few not-so-great things were the bunkers. The bunkers were not too great. Due to early spring, it appeared the course maintenance crew has not yet been able to work over the bunkers and get them in top shape. I was in a couple fairway bunkers and a couple greenside bunkers and every single bunker I hit out of there was little sand and the bunkers had not yet groomed and edged.
Overall, I really liked the course and the conditions (other than the bunkers) were great. The staff in the pro shop was very friendly and accommodating.
The course offers spectacular views of the Heber valley as well as the surrounding mountains. The scenery is awesome, especially on holes 3, 4 and 5.
Off the radar
Has to be one of the nicest public facilities in Utah. Wasn’t expecting much because it was April but the course was already in nearly perfect condition. Layout is amazing with incredible mountain panoramas on nearly every hole. Can’t wait to return.
Great early season round
Crater Springs is a course I play a few times each year because it is a great challenging course that requires focus and skill; the staff was very friendly and helpful; the course was in very good condition for being open for a very short time in the early spring season; I look forward to anither round.
Fantastic golf course to play.
A gorgeous golf course, well maintained, perfect conditions from the tee box to the green. I will play this course again and again. THANK YOU
Worth The Drive!
I booked this tee time the same morning I played and I'm glad I made the 45 minute drive up the mountain. What a beautiful setting! Course is in great condition, especially for late summer. Weather was perfect. If there is one piece of advice, I would recommend putting your driver away on the back, except for one par 5. Friendly staff puts the cherry on top. Enjoy!
Great Course- A Top Notch Course
Beautiful course. Great Course for all levels. This time we played we had a group that was quite slow in front of us. Other times I played this course the play time was adequate. Tee markers could have been moved around the tee box more often because of divot wear but the rest of the course was in great shape.
Crater Springs is a course I must play a few times each year because it is an excellent course. The only issue I have ever had was when a group hit into us while on the green, and the marshall told us to speed up because the group behind said we were slow after I told the marshall their ball flew about a foot away from the head of one of our group members.
Difficult, fun course
Played this course two days in a row; staff was very friendly until we told the Marshall about a 3-some who hit into us in the green without a 'fore' call; thereafter the Marshall hounded our 4-some about playing too slowly; he excused the issue by asking us to play faster but said nothing about proper golf etiquette
We had a great time playing this beautiful course and enjoyed seeing deer on the course. There were a couple quirky holes (blind shots) and 18 ate our lunch, but we had a wonderful time. Staff was extremely friendly. We would definitely recommend this course.
