Great value, nice people, fun course
Had a fun round in Bakersfield VERMONT, (not California) yesterday. Could only play 12 holes since 13-18 were close due to lingering wet conditions, but the 12 I played were a blast. Several blind greens, which is fun until a ball from the players behind you plunks down 10 feet away from where you're lining up your wedge shot!
The clubhouse is extremely modest with a cute and homey little bar. Thursdays are league supper night and we had a delicious lasagna.
Loved the place and would go back.
The club house sits on top of a small hill so you get a good view of Bakersfield (and smog). The dining facility is excellent and the new fitness center is very cool. The renovated driving range is compact, but clean.
The course has mild elevation changes and few very challenging par 4s (456 yard, 451 yard, 441 yard and 419 yard). 6th hole par 5 is the most fun hole in KC as it looks down a valley of fairways assisted by slope on both sides. The greens are a bit tricky as they do have a preferential break. The pace of play is excellent as there are very few guests and members on most occasions.
This review is for Bakersfield, California, not Bakersfield, Vermont! There is absolutely no smog in Bakersfield, Vermont! Please don't confuse them, or let this stop you from visiting Bakersfield, Vermont, which, while more humble than the course in California, is still a great place for a round.
