About
Located north of San Diego in Carlsbad, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa is a legendary golf and wellness getaway in southern California. The resort, which opened in the 1950s, has hosted 37 elite PGA Tour events. The Champions Course features a serene setting that meanders through peaceful wetlands over landscaped bridges and rolling hills. The course underwent a significant renovation in 2011 by Steve Pate, Damian Pascuzzo and Jeff Brauer, which included four brand new holes and improved irrigation and soil for improved course conditions year-round.

Beautiful day, course was in good condition and the greens were rolling well! The greens on the Champions course are much better than Legends right now. Will definitely be back to play the Champions course again!!

Beautiful day! Course is in good condition, but the greens were in poor condition. Looks like they were recently punched, still recovering so the greens were a bit shaggy, slow and bumpy. Love the course, will be back and hopeful the greens will be in better condition next time!

What Happened?
I haven't played these courses in 10 years and thought I would head out to Legends on Memorial Day. What has happened to this place? Looks like golf has taken a back seat to other amenities at the resort.
With the course conditions, this place should not be priced over some public tracks. From tee to green the place looks like Dad Miller or Willowick. Not to be critical of those courses, they are not charging 150 - 250 to play.
If you are coming to this resort for golf. Skip it, cancel the reservation and go to Ojai Valley Inn and Spa!

Greens are destroyed!
We played on May 22 at a price of over $200 only to find out that they had punched all of the greens and you could only drive on the fairways on odd number holes. Despite the course being in such horrible condition, they still want the price they are charging! Pathetic. Golfers be warned. We played at Encinitas Ranch down the road for half the cost and it’s 100% a better course

Punched greens
Paid 100.00+ ea for 2 at 2:40 no mention that the greens were punched (macro). Not very happy :(

Greens punched and sanded and no warning on the tee time
Wanted to play somewhere nice for a buddies birthday and had never played either course in property! We were assigned to the Legends course which had recently aerated the greens! When we booked the tee time there was no mention of any recent maintenance work or else we would have played at a different course and saved my first time here when the course is 100%. I would not recommend playing this course until the greens have healed 100% but as of 5/18/22 that could be a while!

Great track, a bit steep for price but great day!
Great course layout, greens were a bit off since being punched a month or so ago, but they still rolled true. Steep price, we got the hot deal but it's cool knowing the champions course has hosted multiple PGA events. Challenging and tricky pin locations on a few, in the end great day spent at Omni!

Big Price. Dirt Bunkers. Slow.
For the amount of money charged, you would expect bunker sand to be top notch. Not at La Costa, where it differs for each bunker, from a little sand to hard as a rock to dirty and wet. And no marshalls, so pace of play was 5 hours.
Pay a little more and get a great experience at nearby Aviara.

Omni Championship course.
excellant all around. went on mothers day. not sure if always this good. Very light crowd and those in front and behind were very respectful to pace of play. course (championship) was the most beautiful fairways I've ever seen.

Great place to play
My first time playing here and the off course amenities were fabulous. Valet parking when you arrive, clubs taken down and put on cart. Pro shop was fantastic with quick check in. Driving range was ok if you like hitting off mats. Practice green was a bit rough as were the greens. I expected better green conditions but the course layout and shape was great. Played in the afternoon and saved $90 and glad I did. $215 was a bit too much given the course conditions. Overall, I’d play again because of its history.

Gave it another chance
Played the legends course and this place is so pathetic! Greens slow and in horrible condition, this one tome gem is an absolute dog track. I paid $108 and I wouldn't pay $50 to play here. How sad, I remember when it was a treat to play here. I will never play this place again until it changes. I hope it does because it holds a special place in my heart. But for now if you think your playing the once Legendary La Costa your in for a major disappointment. So sad, go play Oceanside Muni, it's in way better shape.

Tough course - terrible condition
Extremely disappointed in the course condition. Not only did they aerate the greens so they were full of sand, the grass was dead or brown in lot of areas. Super disappointed with the green conditions and believe the fact they were just aerated should have been disclosed when booking the tee time.

So sad
I've been playing here since the late 80's and this place unfortunately is like playing on a municipal golf course. Fairways are horrible, bunkers are horrible and the greens punched and not punched are horrible. What a shame, this once premier golf course reduced to a dog track.

Worst value ever
This is a $40 track right now it’s shocking to me they get away with charging $235 for a round there. It’s run down practice facility is crap. I’ve played all over the country and this was hands down the worst place I have ever played that cost a lot. Crazy.
