A Classic!
My favorite course in Vermont among those that were built at least 75 years ago. A classic layout, that tests all parts of your game. One of the Green Mountain State's true gems. A must play, if you are a real golfer.
Hard Unreceptive Greens
Nice layout with great views. Greens are very fast and nothing stays on them. Each hole is different and overall the course is a good challenge but the bunkers have not been trimmed and overall upkeep is lacking. The course is worth a try but be ready to three putt.
Very enjoyable course with lots of character...
Very much enjoyed my round at the CC of Barre. An interesting design with lots of character. For so early in the season it was in surprisingly good condition. Only downside was range hadn't yet opened for the year so I couldn't hit any full shorts before the round, but their practice putting/chipping green was excellent.
Greens were very good, and quite fast. I had a great ball striking day for me, hitting 14 greens in regulation, but had 38 putts and shot 78. I putted off the green on two different occasions. :-D. Greens were smooth and were rolling quite good, I just don't have that soft touch yet this season required to putt quick greens like that.
Lots of elevation changes and a few blind tee shots kept round interesting. Overall I had a great time and will definitely come back to play again.
Hidden jewel
Very nice course with friendly staff.
Course was great with very challenging and quick greens.
Nice bowl of chili and good draft beer after round.
Great round of golf....
Had a great time at this golf course. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
Green Mountains Abound!
Talk about Golf courses with views, this mountain track is second to none! This is a very challenging, and well conditioned course, with many different type holes, to make your round one of the best you can play anywhere in Vermont. Hard to find, but well worth it!
Cold day, fast greens!
It was a cold day at Barre CC with a high below 50 degrees. The course was in great shape and the greens were very fast. We love the course and highly recommend it. It is a challenging, scenic course with blind shots, elevated tee boxes and great views of Vermont's green mountains. The range is just okay and a ways from the clubhouse. The clubhouse is nice and the deck for post-round bevs is great with a nice view of the challenging 18th green. See you soon!
great course,pittifull cart
All was great except for the cart. Can't beginn to tell the problems, but we got around. Course was great as the weather,I played well. The cart was given to us after we heard the gentleman tell a member not to take that one as it does not run well.
That being said we had a great time.
Nice course
Unfortunately the back 9 was closed so we played the front twice. Well taken care of course. Challenging but fair.
Beautiful scenery
Great course. Beautiful views in many locations. Challenging at several points especially if you have never played here before like us -- some blind spots where you don't even know where the green is as you're going uphill. Somewhat hilly but we could've walked it. Only rented carts because we didn't know and some reviews indicated that it was a hilly mountain course.
Beautiful course, challenging, tough greens, in excellent condition. Strong recommendation

Great course and equally great conditions.
I live in the Burlington area and have been a member of a golf course in the Chittenden county area for roughly
40 years. If I was 10 miles closer I would be a member of the Barre golf club. It has great conditions that are only
Matched by the great and challenging layout it has to offer. I truly enjoy this course and always try and play at least
3 to 4 times each Summer.
suprise
I played many courses, this is in middle of nowhere but maintenance was excellent. Course is short but challenging good enough for 5 handicapper.
Challenging
Challenging mountainous course with many interesting features. Very slow pace of play with a twosome in front not interested in allowing faster play to pass. Thought it was over when on the 10th a foursome started their nine and continued slow play. Despite above I'd go back.
Good day
Slow pace of play. But a relaxing day none the less. Will return.
'Barre' good
Nice course yet greens are pitched and fast. If your not a scratch golfer beware and enjoy your putting practice!
great value
great bang for the buck, enjoyable round, challenging course, beautiful views, fast and contoured greens
This course is a Hidden Gem
We enjoyed the course very much.
It was a spectacular view and the people there are very friendly and helpful.
We would go back.
Unfortunately, the course could be a lot busier if their was more signage
But it was worth the drive.
Great Deal Great Course.
Gem of a course
Coming down from the Northeast Kingdom, we were looking for something central to meet up at to play with friends from Burlington. This was a great find. Very scenic course with some hilly terrain that made some shots/holes a bit challenging, but not unduly so. Handicaps of our group about 23-28; we had a wonderful outing. In addition to perfect weather we had no one behind us or in front of us (11:30AM Sat 7/5/14 tee time) for the entire round. I gave it 5 stars for pace of play even though it was a bit over 4 hrs since that was our comfortable pace. Also got a great rate for a couple limited tee times they offered online and via golfnow.com.
Great Course
I wasn't sure about this course when I booked the starting time but I was very happy that I did. The course was in great shape and it had a nice mix of risk reward holes and was somewhat challenging. I booked a second round for the next day.
I want to add, avoid being above the hole on the green. The downhill putt is absolutely unforgiving and you'll fly by the hole every time.
