Darby Creek Golf Course
About
Formerly home to the Ohio Orchard Company, four cherry trees still mark the entrance to Darby Creek Golf Course. The unique layout has two distinctly different nines. The course starts with a windswept link-style nine accented by native grasses and sand bunkers, providing an excellent representation of Scottish tradition. Carved from the forests of maple trees, the back nine is an entirely different experience. The layout has a more traditional American design with tree-lined fairways and greens as well as several strategically placed lakes coming into play. Darby Creek Golf Course's two nines combine to form a true shot-maker's course that balances options like split fairways and short par 4s with more challenging demands. It is at the same time kind to higher handicappers thanks to open fairways, bailout areas, and few greenside hazards.

Rolling on out
Played with a buddy in early morning of a cool summer day. Place was in fantastic shape (wish they would mow more of the goarse though). This course really winds you up from one hole to the next in prep for four long finishing tests. And the greens are fast and true.
Great Layout
This course was a lot of fun to play. The front 9 is more like a links course with few trees and a fairly open layout. The back nine is more like a traditional, American course with large, mature trees and is a little tighter than the back nine. Overall, my guest and I had a nice time. Few people out on the course at 7am on Monday which made the round quick and enjoyable. Looking forward to playing Darby Creek again!
This course is a good mixture of link style and conventional layout
Course is generally maintained good except greens which would have been better if cut and milled.
Rough was ok as expected. Tee boxes generally ok except a couple of them that divots needed to be filled.
I
Did not live up to the hype
All the reviews I read said this course was very well kept and was worth the trip. I wasn't pleased with the greens as there were weeds growing throughout. The fairways were decent. Overall it was just an okay experience. There were several beginner players on the course, and the staff tried to keep the pace of play moving and several times asked the group to let groups play through. I give them high marks for that. But overall it just wasn't the course described to me. My buddy who grew up near the course said it was a shame because he remembered it as one of the nicer courses in the area. Hope management gets it back to that. Until I hear otherwise I have a hard time seeing myself returning for another round.
Great course great price
Can't beat it fier the vaule and course condition. Very nice course
On par for the price
I have played here several times before and it in the same condition it usually is. The greens were in good shape and rolling pretty fast. Fairways were well kept and the heather was long and lush but playable if you found your ball inside of it (had to come out sideways but it is a hazard afterall). Tee boxes could have used a little TLC and a few could be a bit flatter in spots. Overall 40ish $ for a Saturday late morning tee time is pretty good.
Course was in good shape
Course was in good shape, greens were in good condition
Very nice secluded course, almost all holes dogleg.
Golfing this course was a lot of fun, but I found it quite challenging as a beginner golfer. There was only one or two holes in which the fairway was basically straight on to the hole, almost all of them have a pretty vicious dogleg turn in them.
The course was well maintained, a little beat up but it had rained pretty good the night before so I feel that was the cause of most of the wear and tear I saw.
The staff and beer prices were great! :)
Nice course
Course was in great shape and the greens rolled very nice. Club House was in nice shape and food on the turn was terrific!! Also had a cart going around as well - took advantage of everything.
First-timer
Location: I wish this course was located on the other side of Plain City because I would probably play it more often if it were closer to Columbus.
Course Difficulty: the more open front 9 was quite a bit easier than the tighter back 9.
Course Condition: The course was in very good condition even though there were a few tee boxes that could have been spruced up a bit (flatter, grass...). The greens pretty difficult to stick and rolled pretty fast.
Staff: very friendly and engaging staff. I think this is sometimes underrated. Nothing worse than starting off your round with ornery staff.... Not an issue here.
Would definitely play again with the right (GolfNow) rate and time.
A good and fair challenge for players with handicaps over 10
Course should do a better job w/ distance markers. Invest in the flag sticks that allow for GPS yardage devices. Fill the ball washers with water. There is no spot on the course where the player can get a drink of water.
Well designed rural course with fast slanting greens.
Most greens slant from back to front and are very challenging if you do not keep the ball below the hole. A very friendly staff and well laid course with not many golfers. The course is a real gem hidden in a rural area northwest of Columbus, Ohio.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course. Bit of a drive from parts of Columbus but it's worth it. A little wet when we played bu they have good upkeep
Well maintained course
This is a well maintained course and challenging for all golfers. Front 9 is an open links style with tall grass rough, the back is in the woods and more difficult, all with four sets of tees. Electric carts keep the noise down. Beautiful view from the Pro shop. Play mid day during the week to beat the crowd.
Darby Creek
Very windy when we played. Course was in excellent condition for this early in the season. Greens had some good speed and roll to them. Far drive for myself, but for the price I paid, it was a no-brainer.
Great condition for this time of year.
Pace of play was fine - a little under 4 hours and hardly ever waited even though the course was fairly crowded. They did a good job keeping leaves off of the fairways and roughs, and the greens are in good shape. Some sand traps were packeddown but that was to be expected.
Great lay out. Can be long.
Course was in very good shape. the greens were in mid summer form, putted very true. Very windy that day witch made the course even tougher.
Always Fun to Play
I have played Darby Creek on numerous occasions. The course is always maintained in very good condition, the course is very challenging and the greens are very fast. Today was no different. The greens were aerated but still fast and rolled pretty well considering the holes. Love this course and recommend it to all.
Nice
Have been wanting to play this course all summer. Was not disappointed. Very nice layout, fair greens and distance.
super friendly, great course
Greens were the best I have played all year, fast and true. Scott and Ken are Great in the pro shop. 2 different nines gives the course great variety, hit the ball well and you can score!
