No rain for days, still plenty wet
Overall, relatively narrow fairways with not much buffer between you and the poison ivy and oak -- don't go hunting for lost balls. Also, with the actual broad run nearby, most low points remain damp or wet. Fairways were well kept and the greens were running pretty fast, seems like the cicadas are out this year leaving holes everywhere.
Not too bad.
Have played many rounds here. Years back it was pristine, but is starting to worsen, esp traps. Water in play on three holes. Play can back up since it is only 9 holes. Price? Good question. Rates are not posted on line nor posted at desk, so either call (and write down the price), or bring your Ouija Board. I think the price varies according to the hour of day. Advantage Card is a good deal for Senior at $39 a year. Pays for itself after two rounds, then 20% off rounds. Senior rates offered at age 60 or 62, I believe. Staff does a good job to accommodate the golfer, and confirms tee times via email.
Always enjoyable
Friendly check in and starter. Course in good shape and pace was good. Good value.
Good Public Course
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is a good public course with a good practice facility. Remember, this is a public course and not a Country Club. Pace of play can be slow at times. However, if you are going to play golf, then you should expect that sometimes. This course is great for the beginner and junior golfer (9+).
Staff if friendly and helpful.
Suprising Find - Great Putting Green
I was in VA for a buddy's Bday celebration and had the chance to play 9 with some local buddies. Great time and nice practice facilities with a great putting green.
Good golfing
If you want to play 9 or 18 holes this is a good place to play for the cost. Easy to get to and staff is very friendly!
Most scenic public course in Chester County PA
Ok, so it is only 10 minutes from my house, but it really is one of the most scenic courses I've played, and in the fall....magnificent! Hilly doesn't begin to describe the terrain, but I have seen people walk this course (insane!). Spoiled by the fast pace of play (during the week, mid-day). Maintained very well. Could use a few more rakes around bunkers.
You get what you pay for
It's a meh course, meh plus at best. However it is dirt cheap... and for the price, you get a lot of dirt instead of grass.
Not to say it's terrible, or I wouldn't play it again - it's super cheap - but not a steal. You get about the value you pay for. Good if you need a warm up round.
Other possible big negative: it's only 9 holes that guys play twice. On a busy day that backs up 1. We had two groups in front of us for our tee time, even though times before and after were open 4 slots worth.
Thank you for playing Broad Run; and, for your review, Jim! You are correct in that fitting in groups making the turn with groups teeing off hole #1 can be a challenge on busy days. We may not have had a starter at the first tee when you played with it being so early in the golf season; but, this time of year we do have a starter everyday alleviating such backups. We will take your feedback and try to better serve you in the future though! Hope to see you soon.
First time with Grandson
This was the first time my grandson has ever been on a golf course. He was excited just to be on a course. This was just a perfect set up for a first time golfer.
Remembering this is spring we are in Virginia not in OHIO where its cold and rainy.
We had a blast we hit a large bucket of ball then went to the golf course.
The staff was great Traci at the counter was super. We were visiting my son and were looking for a simple place to hit some balls and meet up with him after work.
Course is just starting to come back from winter so all said it was a little rough. but all that aside we were able to play grandson was having a fun time.
Thank you for playing Broad Run and for the review! We are glad that you and your grandson had such a great time golfing with us especially with it being his first time on a course. If you were not aware, junior golfers 16 and under may play for free with a paying adult after 3pm everyday, all year long! So, we hope to see more of you both here at Broad Run!
Nice Course!
Broad Run GC is a very nice course. It's well maintained & I feel the course layout is fair to every skill level. Friendly staff!
Thank you for playing Broad Run and for the review! From the proper set of tees, the course is great for beginners as well as those with lower handicaps. We hope to see you again soon!
I like to play there .
My husband and I really like to play there. But I don't like when we play they have foot ball. The people take way to long. The price is right.
Thank you for playing Broad Run and for the review! Foot golf is a new sport that we brought to Broad Run in hope of bringing new real golfers to the facility and promoting more fun, family activities. It is available after 2pm daily. Pace of play is a challenge at just about every golf course. Unfortunately we are not able to have a ranger on course monitoring pace as often as we would like; but, we encourage golfers to contact the golf shop with any pace of play issue and we will send a staff member out immediately to address the issue or have you play through. Have a great day and hope to see you soon!
Nice track
The course was in good shape and a great challenge.
Nice Course
With a little bit of TLC this could be a very nice course. The par threes are easy but the par fours and fives have difficulty on the left and the right side of the fairway. There are some elevation changes. Some areas of the golf course are not maintained very well, but it's certainly not bad. This nine hole course was well worth the money I paid through Golf Now. As long as you don't overpay, you'll enjoy it. Also, the practice facility looks solid. Take a chance on this golf course, I think you'll like it.
Good value for the money
Course in pretty good condition. Greens were in good shape but slow.
Slow play
Play was so backed up, that I canceled my round and went elsewhere to play.
Good for beginners
Took a couple of new golfers there and it was the perfect place. Inexpensive for them as they try to determine if they want to golf and a few challenging holes that made it fun for me also. The staff was fantastic as Tracy met you at the counter with a smile and was very informative. Some of the big courses need to take lessons from the staff at Broad Run. Course is what you would expect of a public course so don't go there thinking you are playing Pinehurst, however, for the price it was well worth it. Would suggest a little bunker work with a little sand in them.
"In The Rough"
The Course was in Rough Condition, but it is Early Spring, so maybe they will work on it to get it in better shape...
This is NOT the Broad Run course in Va.
