Awful fairways, below average greens
A former PGA rated course that has lost all of its enchantments... The rich history at Rio Pinar includes hosting the PGA Tour’s Citrus Open and the LPGA’s Women’s Citrus Open but the course is definitely millions of yards away from those historic days.... Needs restoration in all areas and aspects. The photos you find online and in GolfNow must be from at least 10 years ago. Course layout is Ok, fairways are really bad and Sandy, greens are below average... Management should leverage that this course was once played by Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, and Hale Irwin and make it a lasting experience for all golfers.
Great course
Great course to play. I was surprised by the sand outside the fairways. It makes the course a laity more challenging.
Winter Pines
I played this course about 20 years ago and nothing has changed
Great course but not for first timers apparently
Heard great things about Rio from many friends so on my 34th birthday I decided to take 2 of my co workers to play for their first time on a nice course.
When we got there the driving range was closed because of a water pipe burst understandable. So went into the club house to get signed in and the credit card machine is down so the man has to write it by hand, no worries stuff happens. Rented 2 sets of rental clubs for my friends to really give them the best time possible. Got out to the first tee and the lead gentleman who was out there gave us a huff because we were 10 minutes late. I do understand golfers need to be on time, but it was a Wednesday at 11am and we had to wait for the club house to write things out. Explained that to the gentleman and we did apologize for being tardy. We started to tee off and into our 3rd golfer teeing off the gentleman at the first tee shouted you guys are 10 minutes late hurry up so I told my friends let’s just go play my ball and put out and we did in a hurry . At the 2nd tee we let 2 groups go ahead to just let some people go and the players weren’t in any fuss. At the 3rd tee a woman in a cart comes and says you have to pick up your pace of play I apologized because we had new people so I decided to skip 4 holes to move things along.
Great course but maybe not for new players who want to play at a nicer course.
Rio Pinar
Course was in good shape except some tee boxes the back nine was slow because of some people not knowing course etiquette
What a turn around!
First played this course 2 years ago and was very disappointed. Gave it another try as they are under new management and WOW! Amazing job turning it around!
Rio Pinar
Slow play on the front nine but it picked up on the back nine
Rio Pinar
Front nine was slow but the back nine was pretty good
Missouri Guests
The staff and amenities are incredible. We traveled to Orlando just to play golf and enjoy the weather. The food, drinks, clubhouse, and hospitality are “top shelf.” The course layout is very nice though challenging, but the grass was sparse and we had to hit off sand fairways, basically.
Great value
My wife and I are average golfers and do not like to pay the Resort Golf Prices. During our stay in Orlando we drove out to Rio Pinar after reading about its history and some of the recent reviews. Large Range with a reasonable price for a bag of balls. Golf Carts with GPS on display were great. Tee Boxes we fine for the most part. Fairways were good and we were always hitting from grass. Ample sand available in bottles to fill your divots. Greens were small. They are not cut super short so they are on the slower side with for us is easier putting than super fast greens. The surroundings are super quiet. We had an awesome afternoon and would definitely go back.
Make way for the scramble club
I don't advise playing this course on a Tuesday afternoon. We paid for a full round, and nobody was behind us thru 7 holes, and we kept pace with the two-some in front of us.
When we got to 8, we were told to move to the back 9 to make way for the scramble crowd.
Just saying we paid for 18, and weren't able to get it in as a result.
Sorry guys, but if you are going to boot me and my buddy off the front 9, you're gonna hear about it later.
Great Course, With a Great History
I’ve played this course a couple of times, and I enjoy it really much, it’s for all types of golfers. Fast greens, but not super firm, I think this is the only area to work on. Super friendly staff in the shop, great starter, good training areas (putting, chipping) with improvement in progress on the range (second thing to improve). I think it’s a really good course and gives great value for what you pay.
Rio Pinar
Hidden gem, this up and coming course has all the right things going. Friendly attentive staff. Service was quick and fast. Other golfers using this course played right tempo. Never held up play. Golf cart mobile beer cart was there when we need it. Like to see the message system on the carts actual work. Green and tee box had minor debris (windy day). Worth time and effort to play here.
