Good pace of play. Greens in very good shape. Holds the ball well. Good layout. Definite play again

A nice interesting layout. Played it with my son in under 3.5 hours.

Enjoyed playing from the white tees, still a challenge to get on the greens for a senior. Greens were a bit slow but true.

Spectacular Layout..
Hard, fast greens but true rollers.
Some teeboxes were in great condition, others pitiful.
Played from the tips nearing 7,200 yards: feels like a US Open.
Quiet, secluded woodlands...

Poor driving range grass (if you can find any)
Tees were old, faded and cracked.. embarrassing.
Almost No Yardage Markers on sprinklers.
Good hotdogs, sandwiches and pleasant server.
Absolutely an A- for the Golfnow prices..

This course is not going to "WOW" anybody but it is an excellent course for the money. The greens are nice and very fast/firm (I hit a 60* wedge in to a green and it kept rolling). The fairways need to be grown in but are not miserable. The course overall needs some work but has a lot of potential. You must be able to hit every club in your back, especially your driver, as this course plays exceptionally long.

The courses very long. Fairways were in bad shape. Greens had just been aerated. Might play again but is a bit of a drive from my house.

The weather was bad and my playing partner and I had the course to ourselves thus a fast pace of play.
The course seemed like it needed a lot of work. I cannot recommend Royal Virginian until I see that
things have improved. Almost forgot, the course plays long.

there have been troubling times for this course; considering all, the present owners and staff are doing fairly well. continuing upgrades will be appreciated. yardage markers?

My buddy and I played on the first decent weather day in several months. The course was, as you'd expect, a little dried out. Nothing wrong with that, though. The fairways were firm and fast, so you got a nice bonus of about 15-20yds bounce on each drive. The greens, though, were very challenging. There was already a lot of slope to them, and the added firmness made them near unplayable. Several chips, pitches, and lobs rolled through the greens. Got to be very frustrating, and we ended up putting from off the green a good deal.

Awesome greens, great lay out, will definitely play again

We enjoy a day away from all the busy neighborhoods and street noise. This course offers both. The greens can be tricky and the course is long - but it is a very relaxed day of golf in a quiet place with no push.

A buddy and I have been playing here in the last few months. We were skeptical to go there at first due to what we were told about this course from several years ago but found a nice course. A good mix of easy and some moderately difficult holes. It deserves a look if you have not played it in several years or at all.

Course is long, .but has great layout no boring holes will play it again.

Played for the 1st time there in years and there have been some real improvement in the condition of this course. Enjoyed the round.

Really enjoyed my round here. Plenty of length. Not the typical driver pitching wedge/9 iron course. Makes you use all your clubs. Fun, fair, challenging, and no crowds. Paid half as much as you would at Independence, but it was in waaayyyy better shape. Great value. Will play there again soon.

1st time playing here and omg is it long (1st hole is 535 from men's tees!)! Greens are showing some disease but still puttable on most holes, especially back nine. With a little TLC this course deserves to be in my monthly rotation.

Most golfers will stay away from the typical white tees. They are very long. A lot of dried grass was in the rough. This is to be corrected as soon as the weather permits

There are some very long par 4's, but the fairways are wide enough that you can use a longer club to reach the green.

Had heard this was a nice course. I drove an hour to play and was very disappointed with the condition of the greens and sand traps. I will not play this course again and would not recommend it to anyone.

This course is a good course to play If you are a experienced or just social golfer. It is a fun course with some nice scenery and staff was friendly.
