The 14th - a nice short par 3 with a tricky green. Photo submitted by GolferJake78 on 03/01/2019

The 17th - probably my favorite hole on the course. Photo submitted by GolferJake78 on 03/01/2019
Good, but slow
Enjoyed our round out at Herndon, but there were a few issues. First of all, in front of our 4-some was a single who was put in between us and another 4 some. Up ahead on the course, there were a lot of other groups, but not too many behind us. Why the starter put that single in front of us made no sense, and we ended up waiting quite a bit on the front 9...and no cart girl at all! The back 9 was the same issue. Except this time was because the group of college guys took an absolutely ridiculous amount of time between each shot. We would be hitting our shots into the green as they were teeing off on the next hole, but whenever we got to the tee, they would still be hitting their shots into the green!! We saw a marshall, but he obviously didn't think it was enough of a problem when this group would be taking 2 off the fairway with us waiting behind on the tee box. If I were more of a confrontational person, I would have said something, but it was the first sunny day in a long time around here, and I figured I'd just enjoy my round. The fairways were well kept, and so were the greens. The hole locations on the greens were all so tough! Most were right on the edge of a crazy slope, and made putting pretty tricky. Not much of a gripe there, just an observation.
We will be back to play here, and hope that the round is a bit quicker next time!
Herndon Centennial
Nice course and in very good shape. Pace of play on the weekends is bad.
Course is great but a few minor issues
Lovely course with fast greens and thick roughs.
2 minor issues:
1- the starter is not nice. He’s pushy and makes you play early rather than allowing you a few minutes to warm up and play at your designated tee time. His attitude leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
2- the tee boxes could use some work. It’s challenging to find a flat spot to hit off of. Most of the time you are teeing off with the ball below or above your feet.
Underrated
What a hidden gem. Very score-able course, lots of forgiveness and fun holes to play! Fairways were pure and the greens rolled fast, tee boxes could use some work but overall for the price you pay it’s WELL worth it. I will be playing here a lot over the summer!
Bring a book
It took us a little over 3 hrs to play the front 9 - the beverage cart took orders just yards off of the back of a par 3 green - we had to skip 4 holes on the back 9 just to break free of the back up. Bring a book to read on a Saturday.
Great shape
Herndon is one of the best maintained public golf courses in Northern Virginia. Hands down to the golf staff, kitchen staff. Truly enjoyed playing this course and will always return for play.
Best Maintained Municipal Course in the Area
The course is always well maintained. The setup is a little wonky with long walks in between holes at some points but great value for the money.
Herndon muni
Played on a weekday morning, course in great shape, Good value for $40....
