CLOSED!!
I wish Golf Advisor would look into whether some course are still open or not because this place is closed. Not sure how long it has been closed but it looks like at least this whole year. Being new to the area and lookin for places to play it would have been nice to see it on here as closed.
trending upward
Course is trending upward with help of new management. Course condition is improving greatly compared to recent years. Pro shop has decent amount of inventory now. Jordan Point looks to be improving. The course just needs golfers to come out and increase revenue to put back into it.
like playing in your back yard.
The course has potential to be a nice course. The tee boxes were not cut and full of crab grass. Grass has not been cut in rough in who knows how long. It was 4-5 inches deep at least on every hole. You can easily see your tee shots, but the rough was so high it would take you 10 minutes to find your ball. The greens were very, very slow.
Don't be fooled on how it looks from the road.......
The course has some serious maintenance issues, poor drainage, tee boxes(if u can call then that) and fairways need cut,the rough is 3-4 inches high making it impossible to search for balls, crabgrass is starting to creep into the greens, several downed trees throughout the course from previous storms.JP seems to decline year after year due to funds. It has always been a nice layout but is becoming a dinosaur in the Tri-Cities area!
Nice layout
Needs some work on tee box and traps . Fairways fair to average. Greens are good for recent storms, needs some work too
Could be a great track! Could be!!!
Seems like a nice layout, elevation changes, draws/fades, long/short etc. However! Very little to no maintanace (sp) is being done: tee boxes not mown, fairways not mown or definable, bunkers in every manner of disarray, I wont go on! I played fairly quickly, course was relatively empty. I really liked the layout of the holes but the conditions downplayed that greatly. Did not talk to any staff there the cart boy told me to go ahead as I had paid on golf now ahead of time. It is 40 miles from me, if it was in good condition I would go back! I know all the muni's and small courses are struggling with money issues right now but you can't make money if you can't draw more golfers to play more rounds. I haven't decided whether or not to return but I doubt it.
This course is very challenging and staff are working on getting it in shape.
Staff extremely friendly to me & my wife who played - at first, and at the end - conversing at our vehicle as we were leaving. Course and asphalt cart paths are in despair in areas, and staff honest about the needs, that they are working on (with lower membership to do it with - $).
Rough greens
Plays a lot longer than the yardage indicates. Greens were especially rough, and back tee boxes weren't mowed on about half of the holes. Liked the layout, but the length along with the rough greens probably added 5-8 strokes to my score. I'd still like to play it again.
course played better this time than last. Conditions are improving
This is the second time I have played this course in the past two weeks. Course and play was more than satisfactory.
A tight course with plenty of challenges for golfers of all skills.
Had a Friday tee time at noon and not a lot of folks on the course (nice). Most of the tee boxes felt like driving off of your lawn at home (natural ground cover). Right now (March) lots of greens under improvement (sand and rough spots) makes putting difficult. A tight course with lots of elevation challenges. Push your ball into the woods and it gone. Best take a GPS app to navigate the course (not well signed and lots of cart paths around- but the beauty of the course is you feel out in the country. Although labeled a country club, there are no locker rooms, minimal staffing (all nice), no pro shop (limited shopping) and there is a no cooler rule- but the turn around near the clubhouse is on the seventh, not the ninth . . .when are you supposed to refill necessary beverages? Overall, course has HUGE potential but needs more revenue to garner upkeep- support your local courses!
Great course fro shot making practice, but don't log it in your USGA Handicap!
The course provides some excellent challenges in terms of shaping your golf ball, and trying to manufacture different trajectories and account for changes in elevation. The course is short, and in many areas, quite narrow, in terms of finding the fairway. With that being said, the greens lack speed and conviction, as it is quite hard to find a true steady role.
I would recommend using this course as a chance to work on the game, but forget about keeping score. I had several chance from inside 6 feet for birdie, only to have the ball bounce and wobble offline, due to rough patches and unevenness in the greens. Hitting many of the greens however will require some skilled precision, as they are some of the smallest in the area!
Best of luck!
For $12 on GolfNow.com...hard to pass up the chance to get out with some friends/family and enjoy a round though!
Good course for all level of golfers.
Jordan Point Golf Club is a challenging but fair course. Well maintained so that even in the late fall you can always find a good spot under winter rules (lift, clean, and place). It also has one of the most scenic finishing holes anywhere. Rick and all the staff are friendly and accommodating whether you're a regular or first-timer. Overall, a great course for a fair price.
Great course that is kept in very good condition.
Jordan Point golf club is my favorite course in the Richmond area to play.
Challenging Course but needs maintenance
I sorta liked the layout...some holes were quite challenging but the course needs maintence....many if the greens had large dead spots and at times I couldn't tell how far from the pin I was...the direction signs were poor at best...so the course was hard to navigate
Course was in decent shape considering it is mid-winter. The GolfNow price was a great value.
First time on the course so it was a challenge to find my way around and know how to play the holes. I look forward to playing it again.
