Course is in awful shape
My son and I played here for our first...and last...time. The course is in terrible condition...tee boxes are either crab grass or bare dirt....fairways very spotty with lots of weeds and bare spots. Greens were nice though...soft and fast. Pro shop old and run down...golf carts dirty. Best comparison would be any overplayed, poorly kept muni course.
Fun Friday Outing
We really enjoyed our round! The gentleman running the Proshop was very helpful and friendly. We had a great pairing and really enjoyed the round!
Always a good time
Love playing this course. If you're not accurate then it's very easy to loose your ball in the water or houses that run along the rough.
Good deal under $30
I wouldn't pay more than $30 to play here. Some of the staff can be less than friendly. Other than golf there's not much here. The fairways and greens were in decent shape. Fewer bare spots this round. Their rack rate is crazy! This course should be $30 tops.
nice course
Good layout, priced well fairly good condition
Solid course with a solid price
The course has been my "go to" for the price, amenities, and great practice. The holes vary in terms of challenge but there's always plenty to work on. I plan on coming back for more this summer. The grille has decent options but could use some updates; usually great for a quick "pick-me-up" but nothing too special to ride home about.
Great time.
The greens and fairways were in great condition. Pace was a little slow, but the golfers I was teamed up with were great. Great value and challenging golf.
Great Day of Golf
I had a great outing with my son. He loves the game and so do I. Its a great bonding experience. The course was fine. We got around in four hours on a 72 and sunny day. Quite a few other golfers. Westpark is our go to spot because we live in Leesburg and have come to enjoy the challenges and fun of of playing Westpark.
slightly above-average, basic woods course
The course is 121 slope 6500 yds from the back tees and plays it, very straightforward. The front side is not much more than a warm-up for the back, but the back is not too hard. It does present a challenge but doesn't get too tough at all. I think the front was a little boring and repetitive but the back was ok. Some verticality and tabletop greens at least in the back, with waste a factor in most of the holes...the one thing is that there are a lot of holes on this course that are clear duplicates of holes on other area courses. A couple of holes from Lake Presidential, one from Blue Ridge Shadows, Forest Woods, Maryland National...the back side plays like a "DC area" version of Renditions. I think there isn't a whole lot to say about this course, it is certainly easier than a lot of courses that I've played in the area, but it does have a fair amount of waste that can play with your head off the tee, and the fairways are not all *that* wide that you won't have trouble hitting them in the wind. It's quite a different challenge in the wind than when the air is calm. But still, a bit too easy of a course to really be much trouble. It's the same length as Goose Creek but not nearly so convoluted, and tucked in between Twin Lakes and Generals' Ridge it immediately gets compared to them. It simply is nowhere near as tough as either one not to mention as scenic and varied as Twin Lakes. It is almost too repetitive and almost too much of a pushover. But if that is what you're looking for, then it's a good course. It has nice facilities and certainly is a good place to take a beginning to average golfer and let them spread their wings.
Hmmmm ok if you're close by....
Drove out from the Tyson's area. My friend came from Bethesda. Got a hot deal and figured Friday in December why not.
It's a long ride out to Leesburg and the tolls are expensive. The clubhouse looks like a weathered holiday inn from the 70s. No real staff on duty. But the fellow at the counter was friendly. No starter. A single joined us at the first tee. And another single asked to join after we hit our tee shots. Had hoped to play through the very slow 4 some in front of us but alas. The group in front of us picked up the pace after the third hole so we finished in under 4 hours. Not bad.
The fairways are basically your average suburban backyard lawn. No blue tees. No red tees. Only white tees - pulled all the way up to the front. The course has a lot of neighborhood drainage so it's muddy in many spots even after several days without rain. No water coolers. Hard to find the next hole sometimes because there are few signs directing you through the maze of cart paths. Some greens were fast, some slow, most bumpy with unexpected breaks right around the hole. I usually shoot 92-95 At this course I shot an 86 (all the tee positions were basically red tees). Only lost one ball. Some tricky dog legs, but mostly flat and straight. You might lose a ball in the long rough, but I didn't have much of a problem that day.
But to be fair this is December. A good price to play golf if you're near by. Not worth the gas and tolls if you're not.
Westpark
People, PLEASE REPAIR YOUR BALLMARKS!!! The only negative about my round was all the spike marks and ball marks on the greens. If you can't take care of the greens, you don't belong on the golf course. Otherwise, a great round at a decent course w/ a GREAT value. I will be back, definitely. I under-estimated this course for a long time, but it's a great value, no frills and decent challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Westpark GC
Strange day of golf. Tee'd off as a single and never ran into a group in front of me, played in 2.5 hours using two balls on a few holes. Overall a good course, layout is interesting, and conditions overall OK. Tees and fairways average due to type of grasses, take a little roll and you'll be OK. Greens nice, most medium size, rolled true with minimal break. Greens were firm and difficult to control the speed of chips. Green side areas inconsistent due to types of grasses. Bunkers were not raked but were OK and not difficult to get out of, combination of sand and dirt. Great hotdeal price. Only problem is the rough. Although not long the ball sits down and is difficult to find.
Great Course to Play after Work
I have played this course 6 times this year. Fairways are starting to show bare spots. Staff is very friendly and pace of play is good.
Good Value
Expect to pay a little less because of the poor course conditions. Fairways and tee boxes are really in bad shape. Greens are good.
Westpark is a value venue
This is inexpensive golf on a course that generally has fair conditions when not too wet. Paired up with another that played 10 holes and then split off. Never waited for the group in front so that was great. Tee boxes need work and there must be 5+ kinds of grass growing on tee boxes and fairways. They need to fix the #8 par 3 distance indicators as they differ from the card and the tee box sign. Staff in pro shop was very friendly.
Good course if you get it off Golf Now
Good for the price if you get it off Golf now. I went to play 9 holes on a Sunday after 4 and they were charging $30.00 ridiculous twilight hours should be no more than $20.00. When I catch it on golf now I'll play because its a nice flat course.
Just average
The only thing good was the greens and bunkers the rest of course was pretty beat up .
Nice track
Nice course without much difficulty or intimidation. Something I would take my wife or other novice golfer to play. Greens in decent shape, but the fairways were a littly shaggy. The rough was brutal.
Solid course
Great shape
Only criticism, needs a little more sand in the traps
