Water features are a challenge!
Holes 5, 6 and 18 will keep you on your toes with water shots. Some uphill and downhill lies offer some golfers a little practice for their finesse shots.
Great value for your $$
Great course, cant beat the price... bunkers need work.
This course is much better than last year.
The course is in good condition but since it is fall, there so many leaves on the sides.
Pace of play
Needs more marshalls. Not one marshall keeping the pace of play going at a reasonable rate. Almost 6 hrs to play.
Bang for the Buck
This course was built on a flood plain. Great condition with that in mind. Some tricky holes for women.
Great course conditions, great value
We love playing West Park. You can always find a deal on green fees, and the course is always in great shape!
Course should be better
Course was fun to play but was hurt by apparent neglect..not awful but not quite up to par either. One thing..we had an 8:03 am tee time, arrived at 7:30 and were rudely informed that "we don't open until 8:00, which they didn't. Never heard of that before!
Great Day! Great 18-hole discounts
Not sure about what these other reviews are all about. But I played this past Sunday, and for the money, you can't beat it. Obviously this is not Pebble Beach, but the deals on golfnow were great. Greens were excellent. Pace was steady. Had a starter and marshal doing their job, no bev. cart though on a Sunday. Staff in the shop were friendly. My one and only complaint would be a couple of patchy fairways. Some are flawless, some are rough. I will definitely be back if I am ever in the area again.
I will never play this course again.
One of the worst maintained courses I have ever played. Never again! Fairways were muddy and had a lot of weeds and clover throughout. Roughs were not cut for at least a week making it extremely hard to find balls hit just off the fairway. A lot of leaves in some of the holes. Gnats and mosquitoes everywhere.
Out dated and plain.
The clubhouse looks old on the outside but inside it is nice but dated. The driving range has mats that needed to be replaced a couple of years ago. They have very thin with little fuzz on them and are several shades from light green to almost white. There are fairways, but standing on most tees you can't tell where the rough ends and the fairway begins. The greens are good, mowed, rolled, and quick. The bunkers need work and the cart paths are in need of a lot of repair. This was not a good experience for me.
Great value, course in very good shape!!
Played yesterday, and the course was in very good shape. Fairways and greens were very well kept. Greens were faster than most courses I normally play. The overall layout looks easy from the card, until you actually play the course. The golfer who can keep the ball in the fairway will do well here. If you tend to slice or hook, you'll be contending with trees which line a lot of the cart path and off the first cut.
In my opinion the front 9 is certainly harder than the back. The front snakes through the residential community, while the back is closer to the club house. Lots of dog legs on the front to contend with.
I would definitely recommend Westpark to anyone who hasn't played this course. You won't be disappointed.
Rude and Unprofessional Staff at West Park
Do not expect any professionalism or friendliness at West Park. One of the rudest and nastiest staff/starter we've ever experienced. First and last time on this course.
Foul mood starter ruined a perfect golf day...
The starters were strict with the tee time booked. We got there about 1.5 hour early, warm up and ready to go but were not allowed to tee off early; although there were openings between groups. In some way, we felt dismissed for booking the discounted rate via Golfnow.
We understand the need to stick to the tee time booked but starters should be flexible to adapt and manage to improve the pace of play (especially when no marshals are available to ensure the flow of the course; reduced expense?). BTW, at one point, another group joined us at the 7th hole waiting for the group in front of us to teeoff. When we got to the 10th hole, there were 4 groups waiting to tee off (and no starters to be found).
Westpark should consider changing its policy and be flexible to ensure productivity, ability to produce golf rounds. Increased productivity makes customers happy and in turns increases revenue... it's a win-win situation.
Greens are in horrible shape, golfers don't fix their pitch marks, and just don't seem to care. I would have to fix 4 or 5 on every hole.
Water stations luke-warm water. Must have had 4 rangers scouting around, one seemed to follow us sneaking up behind trees. Yes we played two extra holes to make up for the two we had to skip because the two groups ahead of us playing Army golf (left, right, left right) wouldn't let us play through, when there were two open holes in front of them. We are both good players, and we do not hold up anybody, but for the ranger to single us out in the sneaky way he did was just wrong. Aren't rangers supposed to help speed up the pace of play and instruct players to fix their pitch marks on the green, or to harass good players who don't hold anybody up?
I like the setup, of the golf course
I like this course, very challenging.. Like hole location... And the course is very open, as long as you hit in fairways....
Good time enjoyable course
I found this course a delight to play. Had some challenging holes. Staff were friendly. It's a good course worth the money. I will play this course again.
Westpark
Avg course - good value for money if you get a discount.
OK I guess!!!
The course got hit really bad from the storms this spring. The fairways have spotty grass patches so be bepaired.
great deal
for the money you can't beat this course. I play goose creek too and this is similar. This has a range though, which is nice.
friendly atmosphere
In general, it is an enjoyable course for average players and beginners. It has dog-legged fairways , tree lines, lateral water hazards, and island green. Friendly staffs make more comfortable. If you are lucky enough to be paired with good players, your game will be awesome with enjoyment.
