Heatherwoode Golf Club
About
Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro boasts some of the most well manicured greens and fairways in southern Ohio. This challenging course, which is the former host of the Nike Tour's Miami Valley Open, is one of Ohio's top 20 golf courses. Denis Griffiths designed the layout. He made the most of the lush, gently rolling landscape and its natural hazards. There is water on over half of the holes in the form of vast lakes and meandering streams. There are also strategically positioned trees looming beside the fairways and greens. The three sets of tees are are diverse enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It is a popular place for tournaments and outings. Heatherwoode G.C. is conveniently located just a short drive from Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati.

Long day
Played this course often and have never made it in under five hours. The rough is thick. The greens are great and for the most part conditions are great. Just hard to find your ball if you miss the fairway.
Was Great in the fall.
We played in the fall and the course was clean of leaves. The greens were in great condition.
Like the view on the hill
This was my first time here.
The young man at the front desk very nice and made me feel welcome. This is my first year playing. Thought the greens were very good, didn't see any balls marks. Fairways were in good shape. The leaves this time of year can make it hard to find the balls but the course was well kept. The view on top the hill was awesome. The couple I played, were members, and added to the fun of the coarse. They didn't have any food ready when we stopped after the first half.
Great time..
Course was in great condition. The rough was healthy. Was a nice challenging course. Though I didn't play very well, had a great time.
will never play again
The overall facility is nice. The green fees are reasonable. The greens were very fast but in OK condition. Now to the fun part. Their "ranger" approached our group of average to above average golfers three times asking why we are so slow and to hurry up. He then proceeded to tell us their "club pro" was behind us. I find it very distasteful that the course heckles 4 players (paying customers) playing at a normal pace because their pro (not paying customer) who couldn't find the fairway was having an off day. I will never pay this course again due to their poor customer service to four guys who PAID to have a nice Sunday.
Horrible Staff
Played the course for the second time Sunday. Facilities were nice. Staff was TERRIBLE. We had a foursome. We allowed the group behind us to play through after we enjoyed some good food and beers at the turn. Unfortunately we had the club "pro" behind us on the back nine with his buddies. Apparently 4 above average golfers were not playing at his pace. So he sent a very rude ranger to tell us to hurry up. He then followed our every move for 6 holes yelling at us to hurry up. NEVER experienced such rudeness and unprofessionalism on a golf course in my 15 years of playing. I will NEVER return to a course with a "pro" (the guy sure didn't play like a pro or act like one) like this. Nice course but I'll play elsewhere for the money and not get treated like a nuisance.
Great course
One of the best courses in the Cincinnati area, fairways and greens in excellent condition. Great price for a great course.
5 plus hours
I have played the course before, it's always in good shape. The bad things were the greens were top dressed and we were not told and it took over 5 and a half hours to play. The ranger came by our group twice and said he was doing something but nothing happened ? 3 hours to play 9 holes !!! Also the beverage shop is epensive, 15 bucks for 6 beers seems high to me and $4 for. Hot dog is high also
Beautiful Course
Great course and a real value. Definitely would play again!
Tee them up
Go play this course. The greens are fast and true, and the rough is tuff. Keep your ball in play the fairways roll great. I think short is better than long. Pick the rite club to tee off with, you don't always need a driver. Lots of fun.
Excellent price for such a nice course!
Rough was a little too high, if you got off the fairway it was hard to recover.
favorite course
This is a great course. Favorite in the Dayton area
Great golf course
Played Heatherwoode on May 20, 2014. The drive was very easy from west Cincinnati, 75 north to Middletown exit and then 3 turns. When we arrived we were greeted by staff outside and in the shop and the facilities (range, banquet, shop, etc) were all very nice. Got out quickly and starter was right on time with tees. From start to finish just an enjoyable round of golf. When you hit the ball in the rough it's a penalty. Lush tees, fairways, greens, and rough, make it a better round of golf. Greens were quick and true. Will definitely return multiple times this season.
one of the top courses in the area
Course was in outstanding condition. By far, the best course I've played in Ohio.best coars I've played outside of the Boulders in Arizona. Staff was friendly. Hot dog was excellent too
Stunning!
Very beautiful course, I love the layout and had a wonderful day of golf.
Love the Course... Hated the pace
Pace of play is the only issue I have with Heatherwoode. Great layout, surprisingly good condition for this early in the year, staff is really great and the facilities are equal to many private clubs. However, a 5.5+ hour round is not acceptable. If they get some rangers out there to enforce pace that would make this a 4-5 star place
Nice course in decent shape but pace of play was intolerable.
We chose this course based on previous reviews. The clubhouse was very nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. We played on a Saturday afternoon and were surprised to see that there was no attendant on duty at the bag drop area. We were paired up with some locals who play the course frequently which was very helpful with course strategy and shot placement. The greens were of ample size and were fast but held our approach shots. On the negative side, Harold, our starter suggested that we complete our play within 4 hours and 15 minutes. With 3-4 groups on every hole however, (one on the green, one in the fairway, and 1-2 groups waiting on the tee) we were lucky to finish in just over five and one-half hours. The houses lining some fairways may come into play following errant shots and water lining four different holes may be problematic for those that slice their drives. In summary, the course was in decent shape and was fun to play but the pace of play made the round much less enjoyable. We would consider returning on a weekday assuming the course would be less crowded.
One of the best courses anywhere
Beautiful coarse!!! From Clubhouse to 18th Green. It is in perfect condition. I have played it many times and it is great each time. Fun and challenging. Water, trees and bunkers. Plenty of trouble to get in to. $300K + houses lining some of the fairways. Just an incredible view no matter what hole you are on. Only bad thing was they paired us up with a another couple which is why it took 4 1/2 hrs. They were slow players. Super nice people. But we like to play fast and it was way too long. Even had to be told to speed up pace. Not used to that. Course wasn't too busy to have to pair up people. Nobody was in front of us, But a 2some and 4some both caught us. That never happens unless a group is slow in front of us, which there wasn't. But I love this coarse and will play it more and more.
Course is in great condition
Played with 3 friends and the course was in outstanding shape. The fairways were well maintained along with the greens. It was refreshing to put on greens that were fast, rolled true and had almost no ball marks!!
Great course for the money
Awesome condition, decent pace of play, nice staff. Some holes may need a ride up for those playing it for the first time to help strategy.
That is ridiculous, if the "pro" of Heatherwoode ever reads this he needs to apologize with conviction. I don't blame you for not wanting to spend money there anymore
