Heatherwoode Golf Club
About
Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro boasts some of the most well manicured greens and fairways in southern Ohio. This challenging course, which is the former host of the Nike Tour's Miami Valley Open, is one of Ohio's top 20 golf courses. Denis Griffiths designed the layout. He made the most of the lush, gently rolling landscape and its natural hazards. There is water on over half of the holes in the form of vast lakes and meandering streams. There are also strategically positioned trees looming beside the fairways and greens. The three sets of tees are are diverse enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels. It is a popular place for tournaments and outings. Heatherwoode G.C. is conveniently located just a short drive from Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati.

Beautiful course
We are from out of state and found this course online! So glad we got a chance to play it!
Great layout
Awsome course, everything about Heatherwood is great. Greens were superb. Well worth the money.
Golf in February? Who would have guessed.
Heatherwood was in great shape for this time of year. It will be another month (April) before they get into full action with a starter and snack shop. In the mean time, this is a great course with fast greens and dog-legs that will require you to hit the ball with a fade or draw on some tee shots. There are plenty of water hazards, traps and trees that will challenge your skills. Watch out for the stream on hole #5. You must decide whether to lay up short or go for the gusto by hitting a 230+ yard tee shot.
Great course, a top public course
A great course, in excellent shape. Very interesting layout, gives you something new with each hole. I played with a very cheap online tee time. Also, I notice a lot of complaints about pace, but I played on a 43 degree day, so there were only 3 people on the whole course! Anyway, I heartily recommend this course, and I will play again next time I'm in the area.
Great course, bad weather
I blame the weatherman. Said it would be dry and cloudy. Had to stay on cart path because was very wet and there was light rain. This made it less fun, but it's a great course and I always like playing it.
Great shape for November in Ohio
Fairways and greens were in really good shape. Played in less that 4 hours. Overall we enjoyed the round.
one of best courses around
forgot how good course is? overall course in great shape! will play again!
great front bad back
Love this course, the back side is definitely the more challenging side, Conditions were good, greens fast but true. Caught a good deal, Normally kinda pricey.
Best greens around. Smooth and fast
Drove about an hour to play course and was not disappointed at all. Course has firmed up nicely. Greens were fast but receptive to quality approach shots. Course was green and well manicured. Even rough was thick and healthy with no brown spots whatsoever. The one thing that really got my attention was the absence of ball marks and divots on greens, very smooth and rolling around 11-11.5 on stimp.
Rough nine holes
Our round was cut short by the threat of lightning. That may have been a blessing. Our threesome was stuck behind a foursome that was at least a hole and a half behind. The nine holes took 2 hours and 45 minutes. They were completely unwilling to speed up or let us through. In the clubhouse as we waited to possibly begin play again, they were over heard telling one another to hurry up when they could resume and get out there before the threesome took their spot. Sadly the rangers did nothing to speed them up. At least we got a raincheck.
Super nice layout!
First off the parking area and practice/warm up facilities are second to none in the area! From parking all around the facilities, to alignment rods, towels, and music at the range, and a proper place to wash your clubs (brush, soapy water.)
The course then was as nice looking and fun to play as I've heard. Fun varying holes and good conditions.
The grounds were wet from recent rain but played nice. There are some areas of bad, or missing, grass on some tee boxes and fairways, the areas in the fairways had been marked as GUR so you could drop on grass.
The greens were nice and putted fairly true. There were quite a few ball marks or black spots that used to be ball marks. The greens (dirt under) are so soft it's impossible to properly fix a deeper ball mark.
Now... the pace of play... front 9 too 2:40!! One guy in the group had to be convinced to stay and play the back nine. Back 9 was quicker with some players ahead playing only 9 but all in all we were out there for over five (5!) hours! :-(
Really nice course, but terrible pace of play.
Nice course. A good challenge with lots of water. But they need rangers out keeping the pace of play going.
great layout
first timer and completely enjoyed the experience. The only drawback was we played behind an outing...... playing a scramble...... and the guys apparently didn't know how to fix ball marks on the greens. Spent extra time cleaning up the greens.
If you are up for a challenge
This course was in great condition. All the greens and fairways were groomed with rarely any divots. The pace of play was terrible. We started at 6 on a Thursday and it took two of us to play 9 holes in 3 hours!! It was dark when we made the turn and tried to keep playing since we had paid for 18. If you a looking for a little spice and a true challenge to your game play this course. There is a lot of water and unless you can drive the ball 350 you'll need to put the driver away and lay up on most of the holes. So bring lots of clubs and lots of balls.
Great course
Course is in great condition. Was able to get a great price. Staff is very friendly. Would recommend this course to friends.
This course has lots of challenges
A great intermediate to advanced course. Lots of challenges. Slow play is always expected here. The course gets lots of play.
Country Club Style of Play
I am a member of a CC in my home state. When I showed up to Heatherwoode, I was pleasantly surprised that this "public course" had country club facilities. A nice, fully stocked pro shop - a ballroom - a 2 story clubhouse - a nice updated bar - a patio/deck to enjoy the view, etc. And, the course was like a CC course! The weather was average because a strong thunderstorm (with lightening and hail) came through about 3 hours before my tee time. But, by the time I teed off, the weather broke, and the sun started to come out. The course was cart path only due to the weather, but it did not affect the overall play of the course. It is one of the best public courses I have been on! The variety of the holes was a nice blend of water, sand, trees, etc. And, the staff was very friendly! Great course. Great experience.
Worth the money
I have played several courses in SW Ohio, both public and private, and Heatherwood is in the top 5. It is a top notch course with a challenging layout and a very friendly staff. I would highly recommend it and will at there every chance I get.
Ok course
.. it's little overprice for the condition of the course. You better be in fairway/Green if not good bye to your ball.
