Great bang for your buck
Good 9 holes if you’re just going to get some holes in. Not a perfect course but definitely not in bad shape.
Great value for the cost
It’s March and has been rainy so the course plays like it. But I have played here in the summer and they take care of the course. But if you want to get 9 holes in and not be rushed, play at a calm speed, have friendly staff serve you, with a range and putting green... get there !!!
Nice practice course
I like going here during the off-season to work on my game. The course is still very neat and the greens are nice even during cold weather. Thanks for being available.
Played through the lake course twice, was fun and great conditions. Greens were well cut, and rolled true. Very pleased.
Hit my first hole in one on Hole 5 par 3. I’ve been golfing for only 2.5 yrs!
great short course
Really enjoy this par3. Great for practice and just fun. Some water few traps ... love it.
A Perfectly Adequate Short Course For Unserious Golf
$12 for nine nearly-regulation sized golf holes, just keep that in mind here. Yes, it only plays 2800 yards from the tips but you get two par-5s and neither one is an easy green-in-two hole. The overall layout is actually pretty decent here, you even have to carry water the entire way on one of the par-3s. The conditions, well, they started out looking pretty sad, especially the weed-infested fairway on #1 but by the end it was actually nearly as good as some of the 18-hole courses in the area and the greens were in great shape!
The staff here is really friendly and don’t forget they have a seperate par-3 course that’s lit up at night! Imagine getting of work, playing a full 9 holes at dusk and then complete the 18 by stadium light? I think I might have to try that out actually, stay tuned!
Pace of Play
Course was damp from rain. But playable cart path only. Pace was good.
Love playing at Windy Hill!
Great place to play golf! Golf Now has great deals, thank you!
Course was wet and only allowed path use. No backup and played through course .
Great winter conditions
Course played really well considering winter conditions. Greens were hard as a rock so it was hard to get the ball to stick, but it was barely above freezing, if at all.
Temper your Expectation
Let me get this straight: Windy Hill is not even close to a four-star golf course. It's in mediocre shape at best, with burnt out sports on tee boxes and greens, uncut fairways, and poorly manicured bunkers. It is not bad enough to be 1 star but do not expect much.
The greens are relatively inconsistently cut. I've putt on some that run at around a 6 or 7 on the stimpmeter and some that run at about a 9 or 10. So every green is a new challenge (to put it nicely). The bunkers are really never in very good shape. They're either really hard without a lot of sand or they very wet with water in them. Not a whole lot of in between.
The layout is nothing special. The opening hole is a downhill par 5 that is reachable in two for almost any decent player. I hit driver, 4 iron and I don't drive the ball longer than 260. The second is a mid-length par three over water. Outside of those two holes and 8 and 9, the course doesn't have a whole lot of character. Holes 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 seem are straightforward. The course is extremely easy. Any good player will pretty much be able to hit iron and wedge in on every par 4 and a driver and middle iron on any of the par 5's.
Look, if you are looking to get in a pretty quick round in between taking cuts in the batting cages (yes, they do have batting cages) and testing your driving skills at go-karts, then this is the place to go. Looking to play a Saturday round with your friends? Windy Hill is not your place.
