I have enjoyed playing this golf course numerous times and will definitely be a frequent flyer there again. The entire staff is extremely friendly. The course can be challenging at time as it was when we faced wind gusts up to about 25 mph making club selection a crap shoot, but that was the fun challenge that day. The fairways, naturally, are not at full bloom yet and that was to be expected for this time of the year. Dogwood Trace has excellent practice facilities and I found a few "keepers" in the range balls I purchased.

Always great course conditions and the 19th hole is special as well.
Great folks, course is always good but was recovering from aerating but greens are always true.
Would love to see the LPGA give it a look. Not quite long enough for the PGA hitters but a great venue for spectators.

For early in the year, the course is in decent condition since temps have not warmed up yet. The greens were in excellent condition, the pace of play could not have been better. The course is fairly open so even beginning golfers can enjoy the course.

I play this course several times a year and always enjoy playing here. We played on a cold and windy day with very few other fools out there - the pace of play was very good. The fairways have not come in yet since warm days are still at a premium. The greens were in very good condition and putt true and quick. I am always amazed at the condition of this course since it gets a lot of play. It is a great value for the money.
I have just two concerns - parking can be tough if you have a mid day tee time and due to the financial problems that Petersburg has, I am worried that the condition of the course will suffer.

This is the nicest course in the area by far. Great staff that are friendly and nice practice area. Since this is the nicest course in the area, it gets very very busy on weekends and the pace of play is very poor. Overall good course and a fun place to play

We played yesterday at 12:03 and the air temperature was around 34 degrees with no wind and overcast. We knew well ahead of time that the course would be frozen and it was. We played just to get outside knowing it would be almost impossible for the frozen greens to hold a shot and they did not. All in all it was an enjoyable round considering we dressed appropriately for the weather, had a cart blanket as well as a cart heater. Getting the T in the ground was the most difficult aspect of yesterday's round.

Dogwood Trace is a gem of a course! If you're in the fairway you'll have a good lye, the rough will punish you about half the time you go there. The greens are relatively fast (I prefer that) depending on when they're cut, real fast on cut day, and they run true.
The practice facilities are excellent, especially for a public course. The putting green is the most difficult green on the course, the is a chipping green with sand trap large enough for 3 people and all the conditions you'll face on the course around it.

Dogwood Trace is an amazing public course! If you are in the fairway, you will always have a good lie (with the exception of landing in a divot). The course is pretty wide open with parallel fairways especially on the back nine, but the roughs will punish you as they are thick and deep enough that you can't see your ball until you are on top of it.
The greens are always fast and run true.
They have excellent practice facilities to include a driving range, chipping green with a large sand trap, and a large putting green.

Nice course , good shape and greens in very good condition . Played 18 in 3 hours which is fast for a group of senior bogey golfers . College tournament finishing up when arrived for tee time , but got us off on time and course very good shape . Not a long course and most holes pretty much straight . Only couple memorable holes , like the short par three 16 with lots of water , but great value for golf now rate . Only get down there couple times a year but always do enjoy .

This was my home course throughout high school. I left the area in 1988 to enlist in the Air Force. I play the course 8-10 times a year as I visit my parents. My last round here was my worst ever. I got on the first tee at 3:30pm with a cart. I figured I'd make decent time and finish 18 holes before sunset. On the first tee the ranger lets me know that the cart has to be turned in by 6pm. I'm thinking that's a lil odd as we still have daylight til 7pm. Oh well, I'll play what I can til 6pm. Well turns out the ranger just won't let me enjoy my round. The ranger stopped at our tee box on four occasions to remind us to have the cart back by 6pm. He was an elderly gentleman (I wish I had gotten his name). We managed to play 11 holes but on hole #12 he demanded that the cart be returned to the clubhouse (5:40pm). We planned to play the hole and return the cart. But he was not having it he literally sat there until we headed to the clubhouse. I never uttered a derogatory word to him. But you can rest assured that I won't be back!

We're so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round. We certainly never want our golfers to feel unwelcome or harassed. However, we did actually have sunset at 6:22pm that day, which is why we do request carts be back at the clubhouse by 6p. Thank you for the feedback and have a great day!
