Unvelievable Conditions; Greens Awesome
Played at 3pm and you would think the greens would have shown some foot traffic and ball marks - greens were pristine and rolled beautifully. Only ball marks to repair were our own. Fairways beautiful as we played the ball down. Just an unbelievable experience. So fortunate to be friends of numerous members.
Unbelievable Condition
Been a year since I last played Loudoun & will play again in August. Unbelievable conditions - fairways in great shape. Greens are always impeccable. Kudos to the members as there were only a handful of ball marks on the greens. Several trees were removed due to disease & it looks beautiful. If you ever get a chance to play, do so and you will not be disappointed.
Loudoun in Great Shape
It had been 5 years since I last played Loudoun and my experience did not disappoint. They redid #18 and it is an excellent design. Conditions were impeccable. Greens were rolling true. Yes it may not be overly long but you have to remember this course originated in 1927. If we lived a little closer, we would consider joining. If you get a chance to play it, do so! You will not be disappointed.
Nice CC in Loudoun Co.
Played with a friend who is a member. Having lived in the area for so long, didn't even know the course existed. It's not flashy or showy. The course isn't long, but still has a few holes where you can crack a driver. Most holes however, require strategy and course knowledge (which I leaned heavily on my member chaperone).
The course was laid out in two separate nines which isn't abundantly obvious, but can tell if you look closely. Course is extremely walkable with some good elevation changes. Older greens have lost some of their area over the years making for very small targets...thankfully if you're in the fairway in Position A you never really are hitting more than 7-8 iron into them.
Course will be even better if they complete a planned restoration/renovation. Taking out trees and returning greens to their original sizes would make this course even more of a hidden gem.
Exactly what a Country Club Should Be
I played Loudoun County during a VSGA One Day Play Day this summer.
The course was lush and green: in perfect shape. The greens were soft and receptive, but rolled true, and fairly fast.
The design was interesting and varied. Some tight holes, and some where you could crack you driver. Length was rewarded on most holes, but you have to make sure you know where you're hitting it to - as it is laid over many hills, there are many blind drives - a few with a hazard at the bottom. So - know what you're hitting to before you you shoot!
If I lived near by, I'd be perfectly happy to play this course every week.
