Belmont Golf Course
About
Belmont Golf Club originally opened in 1916, making it one of Henrico County's oldest courses. The original design was updated in 1927 by Donald Ross and in 2020 by Love Golf Design. The course has a traditional layout. The length and design are indicative of the time when it was built, but it is just as challenging as any modern course. There are a few tough holes that will challenge even the best golfers. Mature trees line Belmont's fairways and there are strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Being one of the most affordable rounds in the area, Belmont Golf Club has become a favorite amongst locals over the years.

4 Stars?
I don't see how this course has a 4-star rating on Golf Advisor. First off, Belmont does not have any practice facilities. No driving range, no chipping green, just a bland putting green next to the first hole. The course is in mediocre shape at best. The bunkers are a big problem for this course. Do not be surprised to find club-head sized rocks in the bunkers. I have seen them many times. The greens are bumpy and do not run true. The overall layout of the course is nothing to write home about. It's relatively flat and straight forward. Finally, the service at this course. I finished the 9th hole and walked up to their "halfway house". There was no one working it. So, I had to wait another couple of hours to get food and when I walked into the "clubhouse" their only employee was smoking a cigarette right outside of her establishment. I don't know about you, but I don;t want someone who just smoked a Cigarette making my food. I exited the door, probably for the last time.

Cool at the beginning of the round. Warmed up to perfect conditions. Great shots and long runs with the low grasses on the fairways.

Course was very wet. No carts allowed. We used a push cart.

Variety of challenging holes. Great course even though it is 12 holes for the regular par course. Also has a par 3 6 hole course.
Refund Requested
I am requesting a refund for this round. We in VA had experienced server weather the night prior to playing this round. Unfortunately, Belmont GC did not allow our party to use the carts that were included in my reservation. It was not even cart path only. It was walking only.
Nice course with good practice range
My wife and I went to this course for the first time.
It has 12 holes plus 6 short holes.
The condition is super. We love the practice area that has drive range and short game practice, amazing chipping area.
The course suits different level players.
Great set up
First time out here and the course was in great shape. Love the 12 full holes and then the 6 par 3 course. Greens were in good shape definitely tricky to read and understand with out playing there before. Would definitely recommend this if you’re in the area!
Excellent condition but layout a bit confusing.
My first time playing Belmont since they completed the redesign a few years ago. Course is in great shape and the practice facility is second to none for a public course in Richmond. Since the redesign took it from 18 holes to 12, the layout is a bit confusing, especially for someone like me playing it for the time. The course is divided into 2-6-hole sides, so if you're playing 18, you need to go back and play one of the sides again (I got the impression they don't care which you choose). However, that causes the pace of play of your "3rd side" to slow considerably since you're now behind others who teed off later. Other than that small issue, it was a good experience overall and one I would recommend to others.
Great practice course!
The course was in great shape. It's a great walk. The only complaint: there was no opportunity to purchase drinks after starting (no bev cart and the turnhouse was closed). Also, there was no bottled water for purchase at the starter shed (technically that's 2 complaints).

It was a pleasure to walk in the shoes of History.
First round
Good venue. Layout a little confusing at first but well marked on cart paths. Surprisingly hard for my game at present but enjoyed the round
Not your Old Belmont
DL III redesigned a Tillinghast and it’s just not the same. Removed the first 6 holes for a 6 hole Par 3 course, putting greens, and driving range. Bunkers placed in many landing areas. Pace is really slow. Since run by First Tee, many new golfers and walkers. For 12 holes on 2nd tee time took almost 3 hours. Pack a lunch if playing on the weekend!
