Way to slow
They have to many rookies playing in one group & on top of it they are acting like they are playing in a PGA tournament. They hgot to hit the ball & goes 10 ft. It was the worst experience since I been golfing. We paid for 18 & left after 9 holes due to how slow the play is. I'm goid waiting 20 min to hit my next shot. The course itself is good. They really need a Marshall on this course to speed tup these horrible players.
Fast greens!
Course was in good condition, as noted, greens are slick! Made a prior tee time for group of 3 on Golf Now app for $33 per person and added a player after the initial booking to make a foursome. When our added player checked in they charged him $63 for 18 holes to join our group. Got out on the course, hot and windy, no water on the course and we all got very dehydrated. Destination pricing for a community course? Not what we expected. Be careful when adding players using the GN app at this venue.
Good Course
Fun time out on Bidwell Golf Course : ) thankful for the chance to be out on a great course with my dad. We were paired together with another two-some, and had a golly good time. The greens were fast, and a few of the holes’ greens were virtually unnameable unless one was coming from a particular direction. Other than the greens, great course!
Greens and staff are great
The greens are the best I have ever seen at Bidwell. Nick and the staff were very helpful. Very happy with tge round.
good course.
good course. slow play but conditions were good after rainy days.
Not a friendly front desk person
I have played Bidwell for many years. Right now it is not being managed well. When I arrived to check in I said hi and there was no greeting back. Nick was not friendly and made snarkey remarks when I asked questions. When my friend went back in to ask a question, both Nick and Cole ignored him. We didn'tget to too off until15 minutes past our tee time. The pace of play is horrible. There is no marshell moving slow players along. Five and a half hours of slow play on a dog track course. Chico needs another public course.
JAW
Received a good deal on tee-off, for myself and a friend. We were joined by a older gentleman. Course was in pretty good shape with exception of some dead spots in the fairways. Greens were well maintained, a little slow. It would be nice if they put water out on the course to refill bottles. Also, they could have put a note on the 9th hole food ordering sign that the internet/ phone was not working, called over ten times, obviously no answer. Lastly, need more attention to slow play, main reason why my buddies and I will usually not play here.
bumpy greens
Bidwell can be a good course but maintenance is sketchy. Consistency is nowhere to be found. You never know what you're going to get.
Loud Band on Patio
We have always liked this course but unfortunately, we arrived on a day that they had a local craft fair on the grounds and a loud band playing on the patio. The music was a distraction to the golfers on the course. It could be heard throughout much of the course. Definitely call ahead and see what is happening at the course on the day you want to play.
Greens are great.
Bidwell greens keeper is doing a great job. It is the best condition that I have seen. The rest of the fairways are ok, but not great. This course is not worth $58. More like $35 when compared to other city courses.
Sunny day
Greens were soft easy to putt on. But watch out for trees. Definitely had to hit some tiger woods trick shots.
It was really hot and there’s no water thermoses. Very disappointed. Also ball washers were broke or out of water. Once I used a water puddle to clean my ball.
Grass an edges were trimmed well . No trouble find my balls. And good bounces. I shot an 80. Low score for that course.
Saw deer and squirrels everywhere.
4 dollars for Gatorade was a little high.
Have a nice day
hot and dry
In this hot (105*) and dry season, water is a critical subject. There are going to be spots on the course that the irrigation system can't reach. But to NOT provide drinking water on the course is ridiculous and is as much or more of a liability as covid is. Heat stroke is a very strong possibility if a person happens to forget to bring their own water. A course 20 miles away but in the same county has had water stations since early spring, so it is not the county health dept regulating the dispensing of water on the course. Water is essential.
First Time Playing this Course
Fairways were a bit sparse in spots. Greens in excellent conditions. Very interesting course layout. Will definitely return.
Slow play
The slow play put a damper on the day. Tough to find any rhythm we you are waiting on every tee box. Did not finish the round as it took over 3 hours to play the front nine. gave up after 12.
This could be a really nice course with a little care.
I agree with this review. I don't know of any other courses that do not provide water refill stations on the course. Butte County is not stopping it because other courses in the county have them. Pace of play is slow 90% of the time and why I play other courses when there is an option.
