Drop dead beauty in the Columbia Gorge
If you want to experience the Northwest in all it's glory, play this course in Carson, Wa!
This course has recently been remade into a fabulous 18 hole course from an older 9 hole course.
It has a Scottish links style feel to it with incredible views of mountains and forests.
The course layout is fair, the fairways and tees are awesome, and the grasses surrounding the course will steal your stray balls.
My only complaint about this course that keeps it from being a total 5 star on conditions is that the greens are slower than they could be.
This corse has great views of the surounding mountains and gorge.
I liked this course a lot. The other gorge course's pale in comparison. Some of the holes play longer than you might think. I played the blue's at 5949 yards and it was the longest 6000 yard course I have ever played. # 10 at 447 yards up hill is a beast! #18 at 355 and downhill plays short but it's tight. Sand, water and plenty of tall grass off the fairways. Expect to lose some balls. the greens are big rolling and fun.
A awesome place to play
This bye far is a course you have to play. It is challenging but has it's difficulties as well. For the above average player, you should play the blue or black tees. The greens have a lot of undulation in them and are awesome. This is just a fabulous course. We just loved it, and you know you are at a great course when you talk about it all the way home.
Excellent high end course.
This is a challenging, very fun course. Hit it where they mow and you'll be fine. Really great golf course!
Gorgeous challenging course
Course is beautiful even in the fall under cloudy skies. Even after a full week of hard rain, the course was dry and in excellent shape. Though it is not a long course and there aren't many trees or water to contend with, the narrow fairways, thick rough, and links style long grass make this a challenging course. The surrounding gorge, elevation changes, and gorgeous yellows and green grasses on course make this one of the most beautiful courses I have ever played on. There were very few people playing so you feel like you are playing on your own private course. For the money and free range balls, the value is also great. The only negative is that even from the Camas area, it is about a 45 minute drive to the course. If you have never played here, you should.
Hidden Gem
Great course - you need to hit it straight or else. Wonderful maintenance and few people playing. Fantastic scenary.
greens will test your ability
The course is not long but it will test your accuracy and putting skill. Fun course to play with nice veiw of Columbia Gorge.
For me the greens needed alot of attention regarding break and speed.
Beautiful views, great value, only downside is the drive from PDX
What a surprise to play a course we had never heard of and then discover how great it was to play. We walk and it is up and down but doable. We will definitely be back and give it another play.
HUGE Improvement From A Few Years Ago
I'd played here 3yrs ago and there were dandelions growing in the middle of all the greens...literally a goat ranch!!
With the name change (and I'm assuming ownership change), the greens appeared to be revamped, and the driving range had lots of grass and plenty of room for golfers to swing freely without feeling cramped.
As for the course:
Most fairways are lined with wispy fescue giving it a links look. That puts hitting the fairways at a premium because finding balls in the heather was nearly impossible. There aren't many hazards on the course, so most of the penalty strokes for the average golfer will come from lost balls/re-tee.
There's a good bit of elevation change, but the greens & teeboxes are close enough where walking wasn't a problem.
Lastly, the VIEWS from just about every hole are spectacular. Definitely makes me appreciate living in the Northwest!
With the condition the course is in now, I think it'll put a lot of competitive pressure on Skamania Lodge's golf course only 15mins away.
Great layout, challenge and views!!
Newly revamped, they put a lot of $$ and effort into bringing this course to a new level of excellence. Different than what we are used to in the Gorge, open expansive views, large and challenging greens. Well worth trying out, you won't be disappointed.
beautiful views
great condition, pretty tight, keep it in the middle. not long, need accurate shots out of box. greens are huge, plenty of break, well kept.
Play somewhere totally different !!
Healthy fairways lined with lots of tall grass.. Big elevation changes and super challenging greens .. Beautiful views, and friendly people.. Worth the drive !!
Narrow fairways and undulating greens.
Fun course, not too busy, reasonable price and great views...highly recommend.
Nice greens
Long grass makes course very challenging. Must keep drives in play or it will hurt. Greens have lots of slope.
Unknown secret
I probably shouldn't be sharing this so I can keep the course to myself, but they wont survive without more play. This is a well designed course with significant challenge. In fact my only criticism is that they should remove some of the picturesque fescue near safe landing areas. Because this course plays much more difficult than its official rating and slope. Bring old balls, because you are almost guaranteed to lose a couple sleeves the first go around. The greens are immaculate and really fun to putt on. You will not be disappointed in making the less than sixty minute drive out from Portland. The views are breathtaking along with all the fun shot challenges.
Well maintained, beautiful surroundings.
The new owners have done a great job with this course. They have gotten the conditions back to a state where one can play the course and have an interesting round. The course isn't long but the tall grass narrows the fairways so that one cannot just pull out the driver and bang away. Unfortunately this can lead to searching for balls if your golf shots are errant. The greens have a lot of slope in them making no easy two putt situations. A couple of the greens are too excessive, in my opinion. The location itself makes this course a must play, being located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge.
Fantastic experience.
A new treasure for an already wonderful place. To have a new course in the Gorge of this quality is icing on the cake. Play it once and you'll come back.
This course is very weel maintained and the views of the Columbia Gorge was spectacular.
Put your driver away because this course plays narrow fairways and the short rough will hide your ball well.
Great course conditions, greens, fairway, cost, ect.
Although the course is great and the conditions are also very good, there are problems. The Very, VERY heavy grass along the entire course is a constant source of misery. There is no recovery from this grass, and anything that hits the fairway and runs into this stuff is mostly lost forever. Also the winds can be very hard on players in the afternoon, unless you like wind surfing and golf combined. The course could play a lot faster if they would cut down the ever present too tall grass. Great price though
This was a great day of golfing
Really did like this course people were very friendly fairways and greens were In very good shape game moved along very nicely.
