Fun at SunCountry
Had a great time playing this course that is well maintained. Yes there are many other nicer courses to play, but for the money you can't beat the price. also $4 dollar bloody marys that were good, help get you going.
Golfing Pleasure
This facility is a nice balance between manicured well designed course with super friendly down home country setting. The course asks you to play "shots", not just hit the ball and you really must plan you way around, so bring some strategy. Hole 15 par 3 has maybe 60' drop, outstanding fun to play.
Sun country
Fun course to play. Not long, but tests your shot placement. Good test for those who don't hit it long anymore. Pace was good, but a couple of groups ahead of us just didn't understand keeping up. Marshal did what he could. Good value and will play again.
Target Golf
Great course that on several holes the smart plays are to lay up. You cannot rely on your driver, or even other long ball clubs when teeing off. Knowing your distances to certain natural markets will pay off. The course also is rather hilly and a cart would be preferred. Clubbing up or down as many as two clubs on certain shots should be considered. I'm a 15 handicap that shot an 82 the first time on the course so of course I'll be back!
Management unfriendly to Hot Deal Customers
3 of us drove 70 miles for a "Hot Deal" tee time of 2:52 PM.. The weather was threatening lightening so we came an hour early, and had an almost identical experience to a previous review.. We presented our confirmation papers to the clerk. We could see the booked rounds log on the counter top and from noon on, there were only 2 rounds booked, one at 2:04 and our round at 2:52. The clerk informed us that management got nothing for our "hot deal" round of golf and therefore he had a strict policy of making people wait until there booked tee time. The course was not busy. We have played golf all over the West coast, and have always been able to go out if there were open tee times ahead of us.. This is good course management, and makes for happy repeat customers... This course may have lost my business forever.
work on your aim
This course demands almost pinpoint accuracy, there is a nice mixture of narrow tree infested fairways with some wide open big hitting holes,
The course requires you to use some strategy off the tee on the narrow spots and several players I've talked to would love to bring a chainsaw on their next visit.
Honestly it's not for those who prefer a links style course. There are some truly ball eating holes and I wouldn't take a beginner there.
It's a hilly course as well and you'll feel it if you choose to walk.
The greens vary a bit in texture and speed depending on shade and some greens get quite a bit of pine needles accumulated toward the end of the day or on windy days.
Staff Not Friendly
Had a Hot Deal time of 2:52 PM. Arrived about an hour early. Gave pro shop lady our reservation confirmation sheet, and she proceeded to firmly tell me that I couldn’t tee off early because the owner or manager was tired of people trying to cheat the system. (I hadn’t asked to tee off early.) She said they receive no money from GolfNow for Hot Deals, and the manager had a strict policy of not letting people tee off early if they had a Hot Deal. (Apparently, this policy did not apply if you had a regular GolfNow tee time.)
My wife and I had travelled 65 miles and arrived early because we must have calculated the travel time incorrectly. I explained that we were not trying to cheat the system, but would like to tee off earlier if she had an available time. She said she did have open tee times, but I could not tee off early. Her attitude was definitely not “friendly” or “understanding”. It seems customer goodwill is not important to the management of this course.
I understand that GolfNow’s policy allows a course to refuse to change a tee time, but having the right to do something doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do. I can understand that if someone has bought a twilight tee time where they are unlikely to finish 18, and then wants to change to a non-twilight time, well that might be trying to cheat the system. However, that was not our situation. Our 2:52 time would have allowed us to easily finish 18 holes so an earlier time would have gained us nothing (other than not having to sit around for an hour.)
Enforcing their policy only lost goodwill for the course, and insured that I will not return nor will I recommend the course to my friends. I have to wonder why they participate in GolfNow Hot Deals since they seem so bitter about not getting any money from Hot Deals. GolfNow participation is supposed to be about enticing new players to a course – not about driving away players due to management’s attitude regarding the program.
Beautiful course
This is a beautiful course and setting with some challenging holes. We had a wonderful experience and will be back.
Called Sun Country for a Good Reason
These are the first reservations we made through the internet and our tee time was right on! The value for the dollars was amazing. We had a great round of golf on a beautiful, sunny day. The wind was OK to deal with on a few of the holes. It kept the temperature down.
Don't let the yardage fool you
While this is a shorter course you better hit the ball straight as an arrow or you will be in the woods. It does have a few open holes that allow you to bomb it.
You have to play it a few times to get and understanding on how to score well.
Overall in very good condition.
Very interesting layout
Good course with unique holes. Lots of thought must go into your tee shots for the best chance of par or birdie. Short, but challenging.
Shot making kind of course, but fun
Don't need to hit driver that often. Combo of wide open fairway and narrow. Variety of hole layouts. Water hazards come in to play. Very few bunkers but fair amount of OB. Greens were a little slow. Very playable and entertaining.
Hidden Gem
Great course at a great price. Off the beaten path and very scenic. A bit f a drive from Settle, ut worth it!
Beautiful Course in Great Condition
The greens are in perfect condition and the rest of the course is excellent. It is extremely hilly so unless you are young and vigorous, a power cart is really required. However, the hills add to the charm of the course. (#15 is a 150-yard par 3 with the tee about 75 feet above the green. It feels like you are right on top of the green looking down on it! Better back off a couple of clubs or you will be in the lake beyond the green!)
Keep your Driver in the bag
Once I stopped using my driver, my score got better. This is very narrow with alot of dog legs hole. Holes 6 thru 8 very windy!!! I would go back and play again. Show as a single got paired up with group of 3, everyone had a good time.
Bring your A iron game
This course is short but demands accuracy. Leave the driver at home and plan on thinking about your second shot before you hit your tee ball.
Looking for Sun at Sun Country
We golfed this course twice over the holiday weekend after having golfed it last summer once. It is challenging to walk, with the extreme hills, so we used a cart. My husband rode and I got in as much walking as possible. The fairways can be narrow, not much sand, but water comes into play. If you drive off the fairway, you might not find your ball in the scrub. Lost several balls and found several. If you are expecting Yakima weather, remember, you can still get windy, rainy, cold weather, so check your forecast carefully. The top of the course is beautiful, but very exposed. We brought our RV and stayed for 2 nights.
Very Scenic.
I drove 84 miles to play with friends. Well worth it.
Fun and Challenging Course
This is a great course for any level of player with plenty of narrow fairways and blind shots. Also great for beginners especially holes 5-7 with its wide open fairways.
You'd be a lot happier if you weren't such a cheapskate. Sounds like a lot of whining to me.
