Challenging for a Newbie
I just started golfing again after 8 years off. This was a challenging course for me thanks to the narrow fairways and plenty of hazards.
Still the time on the course was very enjoyable. The weather was fair with bits of sun and rain. The course was beautiful with a few overly soggy areas, and clumps of cut grass.
My only other advise is to NOT walk the course. It is very winding and lots of hills. It is much more practical to get a cart and the cost was very efficient. I plan on going again very soon!
Nice Chalenging Course , but be Smart
You can score well on this course, but you have to play smart. Some of the par 4's and 5's require a precise tee shot to find the fairway. Several holes i teed off with a 7 iron then hit a fairway wood to the green. Coming up a little short is better than long on many of the holes. Don't get me wrong there are Plenty holes were you can pull out a driver and rip it also.
Nice views, sunshine and autumn color!
The fog and chilliness in western WA was getting to me, so I thought I'd try going over the pass to SunCountry to play a course I've driven by a zillion times, but had never played. Good decision! The sun was shining, little wind, 64 degrees, beautiful autumn colors, relatively few golfers and decent course conditions. Although this is a short course, it certainly has a decent level of challenge due to the trees, elevation changes, water hazards and sand bunkers. The greens had been punched 3 weeks earlier, but were in playable condition; a little slow and bumpy, but not bad. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My friend and I played our round in 3.5 hours, with no one ahead or behind us, which was really nice as we could play at our own pace. The gas cart ran a little rough and needed to be swept out and cleaned. Tee markers were all missing, which was odd. I liked that they had several water jugs and Porta-Potties spread out around the course. The restroom facilities by the RV parking were new and clean. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to this course and look forward to playing it again.
fogged in ,in seattle
one and half drive from seattle .it was sunny the coarse was challenging to find for first time on coarse.the fairways were in great shape.the greens are healing, should be very good by 11/1.great senery.i will diffenitly play again.
Beautiful Fun
The course is set in the trees with hills and valleys. It is very beautiful. One should play more than once to learn which club to use. It is very challenging when you cannot see the green. Unfortunately the weatherman was a day off predicting sun and 78 degrees and we played in a drizzle for most of the round. It was still very fun and not cold at all. We want to play it again. As they say, the views are free.
Have played twice. Will definitely return. A gem in a beautiful surrounding.
Have played with wife and also son and son-in-law. Everyone of all skill levels had a blast. Lots of challenges, but no frustrations. Just plain fun. Clearly a course where local knowledge matters - thus will keep returning! Course is in great shape (tee boxes not so much), views are great, staff is on the ball. Try it, you won't be the least bit disappointed.
Different from any other course in Washington.
Don't let the short yardage fool you. There plenty of demanding shots. Elevation change, sloped fairways and undulating greens make it very tricky. If it's raining in western Washington, it's only an hour drive to get some sun.
Short but challenge
I like the setup of the course. Each hole is different. Water hazard, woods, houses, bunker, hills, dog legs, tight fairways. All make it challenge to play. Greens are in very good condition. Tee boxes are so and so. Who cares for losing ball. Just hit a power fade, powder draw and have some fun.
Course and surroundings very picture perfect
Enjoyed the course ! No back ups and time to enjoy! Course layout very nice and fun challenge to the holes. I wish it was closer to my location but worth the drive!
Short course, but challenging.
A great challenge for iron players. I hit long off the driver so I used my driver only about 5-6 times. The yardage plays short but there are many challenges. There are many high risk reward shots you can play if you know how to shape the ball. Great course for not long, consistent shooters. I would definitely play this course again. Hole 15 is a sweet elevated par 3. Great course for the deal I got. Staff and members were very friendly and helpful.
This course is a diamond in the rough.
I have driven by Sun Country golf course for the past 20 plus years and never even thought about playing there. Got on golfnow and saw it had a tee time available that would fit into a trip my son and I were on. What a fantastic little golf course this is. My son and I had such a good time here. I absolutely will be back to play this course again. They also offer RV camping which I will take advantage of years to come.
New favorite course
Great maintained challenging course. Requires well placed shots. Don't let the 5266 yards (green) fool you. Plays tougher than looks. Loved it, going back as soon as possible. Has a great little RV park.
challenging but fun to play
I booked this course because it was on Hot Deals and boy I am glad I did. Both me and my partner were pleased with the
course conditions and layout, beats you up on some holes but gives you a chance to make it up on other holes. Great views too.
We will be back !!!
One of the best bang for you buck courses in central washington
First off this course is in fantastic shape and is definitely a hidden
gem sitting only half a mile off of interstate 90. I have driven past this course hundreds if not thousands of times never knowing it was there, right off of golf course road about five miles shy of Cle Elum. The elevation changes here are fantastic. Very tight tree lined fairways put accuracy at a premium. This is not a driver friendly course and due to its short length a driver is not really needed beyond 2 par 5s. Excellent views of the cascade mountains from almost anywhere on the course. I was very surprised even though it was fathers day weekend the course was busy, golfers on just about every tee. The staff was about as courteous and you can get real at home feel from everyone around. If you are planning a nice trip to eastern washington this is a great stop along the way. I will definitely be back to play next time I am headed east.
Several awesome holes, The par 3 15th hole is around 163 yards straight down hill, I played a gap wedge 52* at 125 yards into the wind .The 8th and the 13th are tricky holes both driveable par 4s The downhill depth perception really fooled me. It is 305 to the flag and I decided to lay up with a 3 metal and landed in the hazard at around 280. Hole 13 is around 295 yards to the flag, again I decided to lay up with a 2 iron I also landed in the hazard around 270. Both of these holes are very deceiving lengthwise and the ball travels a bit further at that elevation and temp around 76*.
What a beautiful course!
I live in Issaquah and it was well worth the 1 hr drive. It is significantly better than all of the Seattle area public courses I have played and the price was very reasonable. Just yesterday I went to Twin Rivers in Fall city and payed $53, what a joke. If you're looking for a little adventure and can make the 2 hr round trip drive, make to jaunt to Cle Elum.
Course was in good condition overall and had a high level of play.
Mountain Resort Course
Fees were a little high for the course amenities and conditions offered. However, there was little competition available in the area to choose from. Course is easily played by players of all skill levels as each hole had up to 4 different sets of tees.
Area views were dramatic and added to overall ambiance of the course.
Staff were friendly but not overly welcoming.
Course is connected with RV Resort.
Had an enjoyable round.
the course is very picturesque
The course is decently maintained. Fairways hard in places. Course is fairly short but water and doglegs in the right places make it chalengeing. Some fairways are narrow so accuracy is key, others are wide open. Very beautiful scenery, set in the mountains and trees with great views.
Fun out of the way course
This course demands accuracy rather than length off the tee. I only pulled my drive out of the bag on two holes.. It was fun to play, and a very pretty trek through the woods.
Geat day, cloudless sky, 73 degrees
Played here 6/9/13 and had a great time, nice course well maintained and some really fun holes, #16 is a blast hitting down a steep hill to a green well below. Will return to play again any time I am in the area.
Hidden Gem
This is a very nicely maintained course just off I-90 on the sunny side of the Cascades. The course is quite short but still offers challenge given its hilly terrain and winding fairways. It is definitely worth trying, especially if you can score a good rate through GolfNow.
