Eagles Pride Golf Course - Red/Blue
About
Located just 20 minutes south of Tacoma, Eagles Pride Golf Course in Fort Lewis is one of the area's best golfing values. Originally opened as the 18-hole Fort Lewis Golf Course in 1940, it soon became known as one of the best military courses in the country but it's also open to the public. Another nine was added to the layout in 1979. The three nines, known as the Red, Blue, and Green, are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Red/Blue Course is the original layout. The classic design is player friendly but at the same time challenging with an abundance of trees lining the fairways and greens as well as tricky elevation changes that make it tough to find a flat lie. Each hole offers plenty of variety.
Previously known as Red/Blue at Fort Lewis Golf Course.

Poor amenities and pro shop, fine course
Pro shop was incredibly rude almost to make me not want to play here again. Course layout was fun and wildlife was nice but no where to fill up your water, no beverage cart, and the course doesn't go back to the clubhouse at the turn so no way to refill drinks until the 14th where there are vending machines.
Fun course, not fun staff or amenities
Played this course for the first time and when I walked into the pro shop I asked if the course was super hilly or not as it might determine if I wanted to walk or ride. The pro shop guy looked at me like I was the idiot and said "it is a golf course." I chose to walk and wish I rode. The issue with saying that is most of the courses I have played in the area are fairly flat with some hills but overall pretty chill to walk. This course almost every hole was going up and down between you and the green with some serious elevation changes. If you have played Auburn you know the front 9 is pretty flat and very chill for walking. Then you get to the back 9 and it is very hilly. This course felt like the back 9. There is also a fair amount of walking between the holes. To add to this there is no beverage options out on the course except for 2 vending machines on the 14th. No bev cart or a place to fill your water bottle. The course was fun and I would play again but next time I will get a cart and bring tons of water.
Good stuff
Awesome fun place, from the practice area to the actual course
Great value and nice course
The course was in pretty good condition for early spring. Pretty course. Greens were a bit slow. Pace of play was excellent. We plan to go back next week.
Golfnow Problem
I did a hot deal with a cart and the staff said that they don’t provide carts through golf now but if I could prove it they would provide a cart. I showed them the with cart and they said it was not highlighted. I showed them the tee times that have walking and with cart and they still didn’t agree. Bad situation for the customer.
Deals
I got the GN deal and was told upon arrival I was not going to get a cart. Pro shop said GN was not supposed to sell cart w deal. I asked for a credit for cart another time. No can do. I suggested that I’m not responsible for this situation and asked how it can be resolved favorably as I had already paid in full online. I was given a dirty, beat up junker cart probably used for course maintenance. I don’t understand why I’m the bad guy. I felt as if I was at fault. Anyway I won’t be coming back, and I think this was the pro shop’s goal. as far as the course goes…
It’s fun to play.
Cancelled without my doing
I booked for a Saturday on the Wednesday before. Payed the 12 dollars to hold our spot. Somehow my reservation was canceled without my doing. Luckily I checked our reservation the morning of… The golf course must have canceled it??
Friendly players
I ended up playing the second nine with a veteran that spent 20 years serving our country. What a pleasure it was to play with him, talk with him and thank him for his service. His course knowledge was very valuable. He’s a course Marshall on Mondays. If you see him out there, thank him for his service.
I played red and blue course today. The course quality is much better than I expected especially considering the money you paid. I believe it’s going to be even better in one or two weeks when the green resumes from aerification.
Worth the drive
I enjoy this place for the friendly staff and the great value. I like that there are no houses on the course and the mature trees force you to work the ball both ways. Played green and red and the red course has recently punched greens and they were very sandy.
Discount rate worth it
Greens recently punched and pretty horrid, but with the discount rate, well worth it.
Fun day
Started out in a drizzle but it quit after 5 holes or so. Course is in good shape, even with all the moisture lately. Got paired with a couple of fun guys, made for an enjoyable day, even though I did not play well. Only 2nd time playing green course.
