The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie - The Woodlands
About
Located just a few minutes north of Olympia, the Golf Club at Hawk's Prairie is one of the South Sound's most popular golf destinations. The club has two 18-hole courses, each with a completely different layout. You can choose between the classic Scottish design of the Links Course or the Woodlands Course with its idyllic landscape of dense, old growth forest. The Woodlands is what you would expect from a Pacific Northwest golf course, with sprawling fairways that snake through towering trees and large, multi-tiered greens. Ponds and wetlands come into play throughout and there are strategically placed bunkers protecting most of the greens. In addition to offering both a challenging and scenic round, the course was also ranked as one of the Top 75 Most Affordable Golf Courses by Golf Digest.

Great greens and fairways
I love playing this course. There are two great courses at Hawks. The Woodlands course has beautifully kept greens and fairways, my only complaint is there are some bunkers(not all) that are not taken care of and have rocks and other debris in them. Great course overall
Beautiful day on a nice course
The Woodlands at Hawks Prairie is worth a trip to test your shot making skills. It's a challenging course that requires shot making skills. The course is cut out of the forest with more and more houses built around the fairways. If you've not played the course in a couple of years, the housing developments will certainly make it seem like you're playing a totally different course. Many of the targets and sightlines are very different. The course is in great shape and greens run true. However, there isn't much sand in the traps which led to some funky shots.
Woodlands at Hawks Prairie
Great course for the value. Awesome track and great greens. Only issue was not being able to use the GolfNow 10 dollar coupon code .
Dry
Played Woodlands several times over years. Like the course but it’s in terrible condition this year. Greens are good but fairways and especially rough are in tough dry conditions. Surprised this is an Oki course. Will try again in a year.
Great potential
The Woodlands course layout and potential is great. I played the day after it rained throughout the night and the course was difficult to judge since several areas in the rough and fairways gave under my walking weight. All but 2 of the black tees were in terrible condition. Most of all the other tee colors were in good to great condition. The Woodlands course seems to receive less attention than the Links course and only has restroom. Cart girl only game by once during the round and all other amenity options are located near/at the links course. Nice courses but plan on spending 4.5 - 5 hours a round on either course on the weekend.
Just go play it
I play the woodlands 4-5 times a year. Great course layout with wild life, elevation on a few holes and plenty of great challanging greens. Always in great shape.
Great course, great staff
Wonderful in excellent condition. Staff at frint desk were friendly and helpful, especially when my friend from Japan could not find his rental car keys.
course was very well maintained, greens were well kept.after reading some of the reviews I was concerned about the condition of the fairways but they were in great shape.pretty challenging for a first time player as far as the layout but fun to play.
Perfect day
I hit the sweetspot, ahead of a tournament, playing solo in Summer on a gorgeous morning. Greens in great condition, not super fast but consistent. Shape of the layout on the Woodland side very appealing; early morning sun through fir trees is my favorite. Parred all but one hole on the back 9, so a good memory for a long time to come.
Very Dry Fairways
The Woods has limited watering on their fairways which results in brown fairways. Best to play lift and place to compensate for the rough fairways. The greens are in tip-top shape.
Maintenance needs attention
Greens awesome, layout awesome, poorly maintained tee to green. Tee boxes worse than muni course. No water on course to drink?
