The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie - The Links
About
The Golf Club at Hawk's Prairie offers two 18-hole courses, the Links and the Woodlands. Located just a few miles north of Olympia in Lacey, Washington, the club is one of the best golf values in the South Sound. The Links Course joined the original 18 holes in 1999, providing a stark contrast to the aptly named Woodlands Course. The classic Scottish-links design features open fairways and undulating greens. The layout sprawls north towards the mouth of the Puget Sound. There are some rolling hills but the course is still a nice walk, especially with the views of Mount Rainier along the way. You'll encounter numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout and water hazards come into play on half of the holes. It's a challenging but fair golf course with five sets of tees making it playable for all skill levels.

Great course for the money.
I play here at least once a year. The course was nat in as good a shape as it has been in the past, fairways a little dry and rough dry and sparse around some of the greens. I played the links course this time. Price was right and pace of play was great. I will be back.
Overpriced and poorly maintained
I’ve played both courses several times over the past 3 years and continue to question why i would come back again. The staff are great; very friendly and accommodating at the pro shop and restaurant. The issue is the course(s) itself. A friend and I paid over $40 per person for 9 holes and a cart at 545 tonight. Fair if it’s a great track, it’s not. The blue tees i played today (Links) hadn’t been mowed in 5-7 days. 10 feet off most fairways is no longer grass, but a mixture of weeds, hardpan dirt, or both. The bunkers have more rocks than I’ve ever seen, to the point i wouldn’t hit a ball out of them in fear of damaging my wedge. The collars around the greens are mowed maybe once every 3-5 days and are very inconsistent. Greens were good in all fairness. I’ve worked at multiple golf courses in the pro shop and on maintenance during my college years and have been playing the game i can remember. There is much better value for your money in the local area at courses not surrounded by housing developments. Could be a great track if they had the money for herbicides, fungicides, regular mowing, and a big enough crew to maintain it but that clearly is not the case.
Great for all skills
Two of us took our wives to play this course which was the 1st time for both and they enjoyed it!
We're glad you all enjoyed your round and hope to see you out here again soon!

Wonderful setting, great company
I had a good round, it was great for about the first fifteen holesm Age and some old bad habits caught up with me , but I did enough good things to return. The course is in great shape , the greens are challenging but true. The weather was perfect for golf.
Wide open
Open course with water and sand in strategic areas
Fast Greens
Course was ok. Rough was brutal and greens super fast and hard. Overall a good round.
Thanks for the review, rick4247! We hope to see you out on The Links again soon.

Rough is especially tuff when u have many non flat lies with the grass fairly high in many places.
The greens are large and QUICK with many undulations... u will have to play these greens many times to figure them out.
Great course, great staff
Excellent conditions for winter. Greens in fine shape compared to other local courses. Always a good check-in experience, too.
Thanks for the kudos, Steve! We hope to see you out on the links again soon!
