What happened?
My wife and I went to Homestead today anticipating a fun round for our anniversary celebration. Reservations were very easy and the price was exceptionally good. That was a little worrisome.
We teed off from hole #1 ahead of our scheduled time. Unfortunately my drive rolled through a brown fairway into a "sand" trap which was full of dirt, dust, stones and weeds, no trace of sand. Fortunately, I chipped on to a decent, well tended green to save par.
The second hole forward tee box was un-watered and difficult to sink the tee.
Most of the rest of the course was is far worse shape than I remembered from previous yearly outings. Many of the greens were partially diseased. On 17, my ball actually plugged on a saturated fairway.
Neither of the two drinking fountains worked on an 85° day.
After our round we decided to eat at the excellent Cajun Bistro at Shuksan and talked to a woman who lives at Homestead but drives to Shuksan to play due to the current conditions at Homestead.
Hopefully the owners will invest time and funds to bring the course, with a great layout, back to playable shape.
A nice course gone bad.
I've been playing this course since it was built. It used to be well maintained all though they never punched & sanded the fairways so it is not a good winter course. But now it is in a sad state of disrepair. Tee boxes are mostly dirt. Greens are barely puttable. Irrigation pipes are broken all over the course so some fairways are green and some are dead. Bunkers have no sand in them and are a mix of weeds & hard pan dirt. I won't come back until they spend some money and restore this course.

When I chose to play here for the first time I liked the few pictures given of the course, the pictures showed a lushness that at one time it might have had but wasn't even close when I played the course. I know I'm being harsh in my annalisis but it is such a shame that a course that has the character in its layout and for it to be in such dissatisfactory condition. The fairways were way too burnt out, sand traps lacked sand and upkeep, tee boxes were beat up and greens in places were diseased and just not in good shape.. Maybe there isn't enough play on the course that's creating money issues or the ones that take care of the course have little experience, or management isn't properly managing the course as well as it could or should. If course was in a condition that it should be in I would love to play there.

Course layout was fair and challenging but unfortunately that is where all the good stopped. The fairways were mostly burnt out, many of the greens were damaged and a couple were diseased. Sand traps were horrendous no sand more of a waste land. Tee boxes were all beat up in the condition of like the driving range. I say all this because I do like the layout and if was well kept it would be a treasure.the pictures I looked at was not even close to what I was expecting. I can only wonder that the course is maybe in trouble financially. I like to drive and try out courses I never played, I drove 2 hrs. To play here and this is my honest opinion.
Nice layout but!!
I love the layout but it is clear that staffing may be an issue as the greens were in terrible condition. Fairways were. ok.
I will play again but I think the price is too high for the condition of the course right now.
Returned after covid
Haven’t played in a few years but I was very disappointed with the condition of the course
Bunkers have vegetation
Greens and fairways are in soso condition
Very slow pace as well for a morning
Disappointing Course
This could be a great course if they used some weed killer and put sand in the bunkers. Disappointing course for a country club course.
