Great game with my brother.
We teed off in the early afternoon and walked the course - I believe we were the only walkers then, and we soon let two groups (of two) play through before asking a single to join us. The pace then was great and we loved our game. The course was in very good shape and there was a great variety of holes on both nines. We loved the course and feel bad for those who have been playing it frequently - as they will not be able to for much longer.
Price good for deal
Got a golf now special as a single. For the discounted rate, it was fine. If I had to pay the full amount, I would be thoroughly upset. Course was poorly maintained. Greens were hit and miss with spots of yellow. Tee boxes had tees and garbage everywhere. Never saw a marshal or cart girl on a Saturday at 1 pm. Definitely not worth full price rate.
WHAT A SHAME!!!
What a shame it is that this coarse will be closing!!! I just got to play it for the first time and now I want to kick my own butt for not playing it more earlier! The Pro Shop told me they must close because the county is selling the property.
I took my friend (who's played here before) with me and he hadn't been out in a long time. He was so thankful for taking him there because he and his best friend (also a good friend of mine) use to play here twice a week. Since our friend passed he hadn't played there again. He told me he so glad to be back out here and that it was just what he needed. I can see why! The coarse is beautiful and so is the scenery! I will play it as much as I can for the rest of the year. WHAT A SHAME IT'S CLOSING!!!
Good course for the money
Very nice greens and in generally nice shape. Too bad it will closing in October.
short course very small greens chalanging
greens rolled good but the cups plastic liners were almost sticking up should be down at least 3/8 inch ball would hit the liner and pop out not fun!
Fun At Elk Run
I've played at Elk Run numerous times and have enjoyed every time. The course is always in very good shape, compare that with the greens fee and it is one of the best bargains around.
Farewell
I love Elk Run and have enjoyed playing it over the years. But I hear it will close in October. Too bad, the region will miss this little gem.
Nice layout, fairways are dry and hard in many spots
The course is drying out and it appears with the course planning to close at the end of the season they are opting not to put much money into the course. Many fairways were dry and hard.
Interesting design with many different looks.
This is a challenging course with many different looks and lies due to the undulations. Distances can be deceiving to the eye so yardage markers are truly important. I usually prefer to walk when I play but this course all but demands a motor cart, especially when reaching the hills leading up to 17 and 18...
Elk Run
This was my first time playing this course. It is a fairly short course in terms of the holes, but there are some big hills on a couple holes, and long distances between a few of the tee boxes. I was glad I had the cart. I thought overall it was in good condition and well kept. Greens were a little slower than other courses that ive recently played. It was a little on the pricey side, but I would play again if my friends wanted to play it.
Beautiful Course in Great Shape
This course is in super shape: healthy, smooth greens; closely cut fairways; reasonable length rough. There are many sand traps on the front 9 - seemed to be fewer on the back 9. I don't usually comment on playing time as I disagree with those who think golf should be a race, but I was surprised to notice that we finished in 4 hours.
My favorite short course!
First, the practice areas include several greens, chipping area, and are in excellent shape. The course itself is short, but above average challenging par 3's. The fairways are excellent and not hard like Druids. The greens are surprisingly many times better than just about any course around. Walking is not difficult apart from a few long stretches from 9th to 10th and 17th to 18th (super steep) holes. I did hit a powerline on hole 16. Elk Run is a little gem of a course, sadly to be developed soon. A must play short course to test your irons! 280 yds and fairway runs out on the par 5's...I only hit 3W 270+yds and stay out of trouble.
Interesting course
A reasonably shorter course with just 2 par fives, the course provides some challenging holes that keep the course fun and interesting for all levels. There are a couple of holes that are blind and for first timers this can prove difficult, local advice is always helpful if you can get it. Greens and fairways were in good condition. Definitely recommended and a short 35 minute drive from downtown Seattle.
Good value
Had some challenge but fairways were wide enough for a slicer like me. Not many traps. Much of the course is under big power lines.
Midweek bargain
Two distinctive 9 hole courses separated by a road, large practice green, separate practice chipping area with green. Three sets of tees all on grass tee boxes, fairways and greens in good shape. All greens guarded by sand bunkers. If you are playing 18 holes I recommend a cart, there are numerous hills and some long distances between holes, especially between #9 & 10 and also a few holes on the back (west) nine. I enjoyed this challenging course.
Great day, good conditions
As one who shoots in the high 80's most of the time, I really enjoy this course. Interesting holes, some worthy challenges, but not so long or hard that a typical round gets frustrating. Conditions were good, although there are plenty of winter soft spots where you can get into mud, still. I'm anxious to play there again as it dries out.
Fun Time
Rained hard early in the round, but the course was in good shape. Pace of play was very good (sub 4 hour round) Greens were in very good shape, and true. Joined a threesome that had played the course several times. Very enjoyable afternoon!
Good value, great day.
First time playing Elk Run. Overall a real good experience. The course was a little soggy off of the fairway, but that is expected almost anywhere in Western Washington this time of year. The only down side was the pace of play. I gave 2 starts but should have really been 1 star 5+ hours. I didn't mind the extra time the weather was great and the course was pretty crowded on a great Sunday. I do recommend a cart the distance between some holes is a little far. I will be back.
Loved the Course! Hated the Slow Play!
I have no complaints on the Course itself, but the Slow Play was bad! Things were going good though the first 6 Holes, then BAMM! We started bunching up FOUR-Groups deep! This was totally unacceptable. Especially since we saw not one, but TWO "Marshalls" driving around! C'mon guys... being a Marshall requires more than "small talk" here and there. Some people simply need PRODDING. Sad, but true. Don't make the REST of us suffer for it.
