We call this course “The Rock”….

…. Because of that signature 12th hole par 3! It looks so simple, yet in playing the course at least six times in six months, I still have yet to make par on that hole! It’s fun trying.

My family and I like this course because it has a variety of holes, it’s usually not crowded when we play (mid-week) and it’s great value for money. Easy to get to, but not overrun. great course

yardage and prices

Given the courses in the area was surprised by the rates for 18 holes senior. Also, with the new technology available, the courses yardage markers were off by 10 yards in many instances. Especially the tee-off boxes. The course needs to be recalibrated badly.

Great morning at Battle Creek

Though it is not a destination course, Battle Creek is hidden gem this time of year. The fairways are firmig up but still in good shape and the greens are in excellent condition. The pace of play is excellent early in the day as well. The locals know how to get around quickly and do.

Nice Track In The Woods

This course is nestled nicely on the Tulalip reservation with plenty of trees and undergrowth. Almost enough to make you go crazy if you don't hit the fairways on a regular basis. The greens are groomed well and with hills / moguls in all the right places the fairways are challenging but fair. One of the best know holes in the area is the par 3 12th. From the tee box you have to hit over a ravine to either a very small landing spot or over a large bolder to the green. One of the most challenging par 3's I have come across so far. I would recommend trying this course out.

Battle Creek GC

Blue skies, green fairways, perfect combination for a walk among towering pines. Battle Creek GC, just a short detour off I-5 is a course that offers great value, wide fairways, great scenery, numerous elevation changes & generous greens. Surrounded by tall cedars & pines the fairways appear deceptively narrow but there is plenty of room for the directionally challenged & you may be able to bounce back from the odd errant shot. Hole 12, "The Rock", a 185 yd, Par 3 stands out.

Under rated gem.

I have played this course over 50 times and love it. Lots of challenging holes including 8, 12 (Par 3, known as The Rock), and 18. Its a hard walk with some big elevation change on back nine. Only negative for me is the traps. More like cat litter than sand. Improvements have been made in last few years. Underbrush trimmed and trees removed so more sunlight gets to fairways and greens. Get a Tulalip Casino players card and you get twilight rate all day on weekdays.

Unique course north of Seattle

This is a great (and seemingly little-known) course about 45 minutes north of Seattle. I've played it for many years now and it's always been a fun 18 to play a couple times per year.

It's a typical Northwest course with fairways lined by tall pines, but with generously wide landing zones. There is very little water on the course, and even if you hit your shot off line, the ground under the trees is cleared out well enough that you can find your ball & punch out to the fairway.

Warm up your driver before coming - there are five par 5s, with two easily reachable even from the blues.

The course is typically not busy, so if you want to get in a last minute round on a nice day, consider driving up here. You'll save that extra drive time and more when you play without anyone in front of you for your round.

Great signature hole "The Rock"

This course has good elevation changes on some holes. Some holes are challenging but overall one of my favorite courses to play at.
