Nice course
The staff was very friendly and helpful We played at 7:10 am, not 2:20 pm. The course was in fairly nice condition. Some of the greens were a little rough but overall a decent course. The value was excellent.
Great experience, but let down by course conditions
Let me begin with the positives:
- BEAUTIFUL course location next to the Columbia River Gorge.
- EXTREMELY HOSPITABLE course staff.
- DELICIOUS clubhouse food.
- ENGAGING course layout.
Where I was left wanting more:
- The course greens were in very poor shape, to the point where a two putt from 10 feet would be considered a success (note: I played the course in February during rainy season). This is really what the review comes down to - I left after my round feeling as though I had fun, but not as though I’d played an actual round of golf given the green conditions.
Good value for the money
It’s a nice course in the gorge, not the greatest conditions but for the price it’s well worth it
Forced off the course
I have played this course numerous times like the layout and normally play it solo for a good practice round.. booked 4 times for me and my buddies. When we got there we noticed items setup for a tournament. Didn't know if it was Friday or the same day we are playing. Well at 6am we played fast and made good time. On holes 8,9 noticed the people stacking up. Once we made the turn the tournament shotgun start started.. within minutes we had 4 carts per tee box. Walked off the course. Talked to person in the clubhouse how I think it was stupid to have tee times avaible while doing a tournament.. she said she didn't know why we able to book a tee time.. and then told me to talk to golfnow.. I called golfnow about getting a refund and was told after many minutes on hold that no one was picking up the phone to confirm my problem with not finishing my round.. was told basically nothing could be done for a refund. So i am out what I payed for.. love the course but not really.feeling it after treatment.
Oh boy
Beautiful views of the mtns, nice scenery but course had nothing but hackers on it, greens were burnt out in patches as well as the fairways in spots, the play was slower than a dead turtle trying to cross the rd! we tried to play 18 but after it took 21hr 45 minutes so we called it quits. If your a hacker and not serious about golf, this is your spot, but at least staff was very friendly.
Gem in rough
I love playing this course. The layout fits my game. Greens are a little bumpy but I have seen elk on the course and there tracks on the greens.. all in all love the course.
Relaxing
Great course, great views, nice relaxing pace (don't feel rushed). Overall perk place to play a relaxing round of golf.
Needs improvement
Greens were not properly maintained. It was like putting from a lush carpet which is not proper golf. 18holes actually means you will play the same 9holes twice although from different tees. Maybe perfect for beginners or children who are getting used to playing and don’t mind playing 3 hours for 9holes. There were fivesomes everywhere
Challenging course and great food
The course itself is challenging and fun. Briggs is awesome as well, and cooks up some mean burgers and sandwiches in addition to always being friendly and helpful. Went out and played a rainy and wet day, so any flawed course conditions were not the fault of anyone but mother nature and myself for being a crazy enough looney tune to get out and play 18 in 50 degrees and rain! XD
1st visit to Beacon Rock
Had a great 1st time. Desk and kitchen staff were quite friendly. Fun course. Not long but a few good dog legs and some water to make it interesting. Will come back especially for $15 for 9 including cart on a Friday late afternoon! A bargain!
A fun/interesting course to play
Don't be fooled by the slope rating on this course. There are some very interesting/challenging holes to play.
The scenery is spectacular.
I believe this is a family owned course, and the staff/owners couldn't be nicer or more accommodating.
