PLAY A DIFFERENT COURSE BECAUSE...........
Made a Tee time For 12:27 and showed up 10mins before my Tee time (12:17) only to find out they were having a shotgun tournament that day at 12:30. I was told " sorry for this but that Tee time was removed a week ago, there is nothing I can do other than give you a tee time for a different day" when that was a total lie because I reserved my tee time the same day at 9:30 as the tee time.
I was really excited to play this course being that I grew up playing on Glen Acres and spent everyday of my summer break as a junior/teen playing on the course and have not played it in over 15 years. But I will not go back now because I do not want to show up for a scheduled tee time only to find out I cant play and have my whole day ruined.
Glen Acres, a round gone
The Course is very challenging due to the narrowness of the fairways, the trees as obstacles, the houses lining the edges with blocked off fences, and the greens that are like mogles.
If you don't hit the fairways on your drive, you're going to be punished greatly. 1st hole I had a 'slight draw', but it was enough to lose not one of my 4$ balls, but two. I repeated this loss several holes later where a fence lined the left side and I hit another slight draw and poof... balls gone... twice again. Only this time I could see the balls, but they were behind a fence that I could not get around to retrieve them.
Not the course's fault that I hooked or sliced my drives, but it would have been nice to be able to retrieve the balls gone wrong.
The greens were in good condition but so 'sloped' on some that missing the cup on the softest of putts sent the ball traveling far past the cup.
The cart I used had bad brakes... locked down, the cart still rolled down hill which caused me to be less focused on my game. Hopefully they'll fix that issue as I alerted them to it when I finished my round.
I was paired up with a guy who RUSHED through like nobody I've ever seen. That part made the round less than favorable for me personally. I felt like I was under-the-gun the entire time.
The next time I am paired with someone like that I'll send them on their way so that I can play 'my game, my pace' not theirs.
Great course for Seniors.
As for my game-score:
I shot over par, and then some. Definitely not one of 'my' better games. :--))
Next round at the Auburn Course Thursday (Tomorrow).
Good Golfing!!! and remember to:
*Fix your ball marks and divots please!
Hidden Treasure
Once you're comfortable that you've learned how to play golf the next step is to be challenged by other players and by tough courses . When you find that special course it's like finding a diamond in the rough. Well Glenn acres is a nine-hole track that I'm sure most golfers in the northwest have no idea exists or how awesome it is . It's beautiful, it will challenge you, and I has the country club feel just like it was designed to be .
This course had no features on Mondays
The course is usually closed on Monday's so there was no food or drinks available, and being an executive course, on the back nine it got a little crowded.
A challenging private course.
Glen Acres golf course is a private 9 hole country club course with different tees for the "front" and "back" 9. It is not normally open to the public except for select tee times offered thru GolfNow. It has a collared shirt and no denim dress code during peak season months (not strictly enforced in fall and winter). There is a small non-fenced driving range in the middle of the course and a small practice putting green. This course is a hidden gem in a park-like setting, with great Seattle skyline views in the distance. It has very challenging sloped and elevated greens, varying slopes and elevation changes in the fairways, and a few bunkers that seem like ball magnets. There are also a couple of hidden water hazards you will remember on your second time around! You must be conscious of homes on the left side of the fairway of only two holes on the course, the rest of the course you are surrounded by various types of mature trees typical of western Washington and you don't even see any homes. It's a fun and challenging course, not easy in any way!
Nice and challenging 9 hole track
Nice and challenging 9 hole course... GolfNow should have mentioned it in the course description. When I checked in at the Pro Shop, was when I was told it was a 9 hole course. Conditions were a little damp from the recent weather, but the course ran about a club to 1 1/2 longer. Greens were smooth and slow.
Excellent value, really nice staff
One of our favorite courses for the money. Very tricky greens, nice views, very easy-going staff.
Excellent conditions and value!
Course is in fantastic condition given the incredibly hot and dry summer. Fairways are green and putting greens are very good. Maybe not as fast as usual, but very good. Terrific job by glen acres to keep the course in such quality condition.
I forgot what a quality course this is.
Play it again or for the first time. You'll be happy you did.
Great deal
What a pleasant surprise. I had no idea this hidden gem existed until I saw a golf now hot deal. My wife and I had a 3 hour round. It was quite challenging, and interesting. The course was in great shape. The staff and fellow golfers were very friendly and hospitable. There is even a great farmers market/fruit stand on the corner a block away.
challenging and fun
Worth checking out, nice staff, challenging course and very fun. Even though it only has nine holes the difference in play for the two available positions for each hole makes it feel like a true 18 hole course. It's long enough and with high slope to give any one a run for their money. Simply put, it's a good time.
Enjoyed my round
Old school golf and county club that reminds me of the Caddy Shack movie. Really like the complimentary range balls and nice practice areas. The greens are as firm, fast and true. I will play here again
good time
the course was in good shape.Rare day, not many on course,. greens average speed except #9.it was a lot faster so I blew putts by. Great hot deal with cart and unlimited range balls. Worth going to olay
Good value
Decent value for $20. I should have read the fine print that it was only 9 holes of play for $20, but was able to sneak in a few more. Good course.
Tight and No Bite
The fairways are narrow tree lined tests of straight shots. Most of the greens are uphill shots and require extreme accuracy or extreme backspin. The course isn't long but unless you can keep it in the fairway best hope is to one putt.
Don't let the airplanes on approach to SEATAC distract your focus.
Glen Acres Golf Country Club
Hands down this is the best value on GolfNow. It is a private club, that the members let the public play from time to time. It is very tight, and the Greens are perfect. I actually watch GolfNow for this to come up weekly.
Weather Can Make a Big Difference
Hadn't played here in years. Got a Hot Deal on GolfNow as a single, and it's convenient to my home. It was as I remembered it-- decent conditioning, good challenging greens and friendly people. Even after a few nice days, fairways offered no bounce and roll, and roughs were semi-muddy. Despite that, I enjoyed the round, especially for the price.
Nice Friday round
I went there on an early Friday afternoon, and after taking care of the fees etc, I got to the first tee right away. The overall speed was great as the crowd was small and moving on. Some of the fairways were extremely wet and soggy so balls got plucked in the mud and 2 were even lost. The greens however were in great conditions except Nr. 6 which was very bumpy. Overall a great round for your money, I will be back for more.
It was ok
I think the course will be better come summertime. It is already better than a month ago when I played it. But , still a fun little course-
Fall Golfing
The course was fun and challenging. It was soggy but that is to be expected in fall/winter. The greens are all elevated so they were fairly dry and in great condition. The staff and members were extremely friendly and gracious hosts to us "outsiders". I felt that the price was a bit high for such a soggy course. We also had a heck of a time finding our balls as they hadn't raked or mulched and of the leaves. It would also have been nice if there would've been some quick snacks to purchase. But I'm so impressed otherwise that I'm thinking about a membership!
Odd old course
Tight fairways and small, undulating greens. For a half empty course it was slow, a fivesome ahead was marking short puts. It was like playing a dog track muni with greens in good shape.
Executive courses are generally defined as shorter.. ie. 250 yard par 4s. Glen Acres is not an executive course. It is a 9 hole loop but the par 4's are full length and challenging.
