This is a great beginners course! Not long. Easy layout. Easy pace.
Ruined Fathers Day Play
This was supposed to be a nice Father’s Day spent with my family. I am a GolfNow VIP & trust the reviews, but this was not what was sold online.
We booked an 18 hole w/cart. We did not realize this is a 9 hole course. When we arrived, the was only one cart left. Thank goodness someone finished, so we could use there’s. Easy course to walk, be prepared to. The course was overbooked when we started, but we dealt with that. The fairways are narrow and this is not really for the experienced golfer, but more for fun play.
The course has a “foot” soccer course along with the golf course. As we made the turn, the soccer was kicking off. This included dogs and kids. Being experienced golfers this concerned us, because we could drive the ball farther than the kids kicking to their second hiole. We realized this was not going to work and requested that we only pay for the $9 hole price. With a protest he gave me $5 per person back. Gee thanks. You over book and we get to pay for it. I would never golf here again.
Not a championship course by any means but it was fun to play and in good shape. A little slow but that was the players fault not the course!
Great Value and Pace
Teed off at 2pm on a Tuesday. Played 18 holes with cart in 3 hours and 5 minutes. Doesn't get any better than that. It was 72 and sunny, the staff was very friendly and the pace of play makes me wish all courses could be like this. Golfnow is amazing too.
Easy, short course. Greens are in great condition and have little undulation allowing for fewer putts. Flat course, easy to walk. Lots of trees create shade for hot days.
Having played this course many times, today did find some standing water in some areas, especially on the cart paths. also some deep pot holes, otherwise course is in good shape, especially the greens.
always good play
The course is friendly to play. The staff are always super friendly. The geese stay out of the way.
Fast play usually, fairways in good shape. good drainage. Greens are well kept.
Nice 9-hole course
This was a fun course to play. There are long overhanging branches along the fairways but not a big problem if you stay in the middle. Greens were in very nice shape. It was a little confusing to go from 3 to 4 but we found our way around. There are drinks, snacks and beer in the clubhouse coolers. No hot food. Limited number of carts available and they don't get cleaned between uses. We will be back.
What a jewel
This course is a no-nonsense, challenging, compact course that will take you back to the 60’s if you’re old enough to remember and get you in touch with what’s important if not. We love this place and the fact that it is so affordable. The staff is fantastic and helpful, especially Raphael, the manager. Don’t hesitate to try this course and don’t laugh at it’s size or lack of water hazards; the narrow, tree-lined fairways will humble you and remind you it isn’t always about hitting it long. Accuracy matters here.
Good times at Ft. Steilacoom GC
Another great day at Ft. Steilacoom except for the leaves. Too bad they close two days a week now, otherwise I know the leaves would have been cleaned up! No friendlier staff at any course I have been to!
