Nice but pricey if you are not from Yakima
The course was is decent shape. I have played this course many times in the past, but this time the greens were not in very good shape. Lots of spots on the greens that need to be treated for winter mold damage or something that creates bare spots that putts do not roll over on a true line. They said that the greens had been rolled in the morning, but the greens were still quite bumpy.
It is still a nice course but I'm not sure if it is truly worth the money unless you pay Yakima resident green fee.
excellent
First time on this course and look forward to playing here again. This course was a challenge and now knowing the lay out feel I can improve my score and look forward to the next time. bob w
This is a must play course!
I'm a college student who grew up in Yakima and I've been away for a few years. I haven't played this course since my freshman year in high school and the course has improved drastically since then. I was very impressed with the way the conditions of the course compared to the other courses in the region. The greens a big and the course can be long with the wind in your face on westward facing holes. I attend school in the portland area and played the OGA in woodburn last week. These courses are very similar but I have to give the better review to Apple Tree. I was very impressed with how much the course has improved and the conditions of the course for this time of year. The only negative feeling came in the club house when I was given a hard time for not having the reservation from golf now on paper. I showed him the reservation on my phone and with a little talk he let me play on. Other than that the staff are very friendly.
Course was great.
The course was well maintained and the pace was great. We finished in 3.5 hours.
VERY NICE SETTING
the course has a nice setting, and is always well kept. oddly this Sunday was very quiet.
A great course
The course is well maintained, great setting, and challenging.
Great course, rude staff
The staff in the pro shop and the marshal were less than cordial. We were criticized for not having a paper copy of our GolfNow reservation even though I could show it to him on my phone. We use GolfNow when we travel and we DON'T carry a printer. If we weren't committed through our reservation we would have left without playing.
A TRUE CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE
Every two or three years I come and play this golf course. From the staff to the tee to the clubhouse its a very nice atmosphere. As soon as you hit the #1 tee you see the beauty of the course. Make sure u have enough balls for #17 their signature hole! Overall a fantastic time for sure.
Nice course
I would rate the course higher but being a female I don't like that there are only portable toilets on the front nine and they don't even have water or hand sanitizer. The greens had just been sanded so the putting was a little challenging but it is a beautiful course in a beautiful location. I had a par on the Apple so it was a great experience!
Always a fun course to play
I particularly enjoyed a relatively fast pace of play at a big discount from Golf Now yesterday. The greens were a little slower than I expected and the sand traps are always the worst in the area (either very crusty or rocky). It's too bad that a course of this calibre has such terrible traps.
Great features but lots do dry patches
Played during a long hot spell and course showed this. Both fairways and greens were affected. Overall experience was good and a fun course to play.
Not just a one-hole wonder
Like everybody else, I came to Apple Tree looking to conquer its apple-shaped island green. I did that - my tee shot barely found land - by two-putting for par.
The pleasant surprise came much earlier in the round as I played one good hole after another. Apple Tree is a complete golf course. The back nine does lose a little bit when it crosses the road and wanders through a subdivision. But all 12 holes on the same side of the road as the clubhouse - the front nine and the three closers - feature nice elevation changes and interesting challenges. I'd say it's definitely worth the effort to find in central Washington state.
Great day at Apple Tree
Playing Apple Tree with my son is always a treat. Even though it was a warm Yakima day, it was comfortable on the course. The greens putted true. Keeping my ball dry on the apple green was a plus.
Some areas that could be improved on..
Well, the women's bathroom looked like a hurricane hit them. Then we are golfing at 3:50 pm on a 90 degree day, and they close the snack area at 4pm that offers the drinks. No cart lady on the course. Really? You would think they would keep staff on hand for 90 degree days. It seems like the course is cutting cost. I noticed that they don't even put soap in the golf ball cleaners.
is my home course so that speaks for its self
great day had the course all to our selves being it got up to 106 monday but thats the way we like it and for 20 dollars cant beat that thanks

The customer service while checking in was VERY poor.
I was traveling when i purchased this tee time. Therefore not having a printed paper with the confirmation. Rod told me 3 times (as if i was a child) that i had to have my stuff together and bring the printed sheet with me. I finally explained that i did not have a printer in my car while i was traveling. i had to read the info of my email confirmation to him "because his eyes are too old to read phones". When i went back in to the club house to use the restrooms he was telling the whole story to all the people in line how "somebody came in without all the information, and u just have to have your stuff together" while shrugging and rolling his eyes.........very rude. Had it not been for Golfnow we would have not spent $300 there that day.
Appletree isan asthetically perfect golf course!
This Golf Now deal enabled us to play a fabulous course that we would not have been able to afford financially. We had a fabulous day at Appletree, including the golfing and Miners in Yakima.
Water everywhere
I have heard and read about this course for many years and finally played it... I am sorry it took me so long to make the trip over here to play it. The course is very interesting as it not only winds through the apple orchards, but has elevation gains and losses. The carts do not have GPS which would be very helpful on many of the holes.... so bring whatever gadget you have that will tell you the yardage. There are plenty of bunkers in landing areas and surrounding the greens. The greens are fairly large, with plenty of undulation and tiers. There was water on many of the holes... down the sides, in front of the greens, etc. The hazards were not always visible from the tee or the fairway. The wind was blowing 10-20 MPH and made some of the holes very long. I believe that wind is a common issue here in Eastern Washington. The course was in good condition, and the staff there was very friendly and helpful. The food is also excellent at the restaurant, and is popular with the local residents... Great views of the 9th, 17th, and 18th holes. I had a 2PM cheap rate, and flew around the course in 3 hours. and was back at home by 7:30 on the west side....
Looks good from a distance
I have played this course many times before but its value is not there without some kind of discount. I can think of about 10 courses around Portland OR that cost the same or less that are a much better golfing experience. The only real problem I ran into, other than other golfers not sticking to dress code and not being held accountable, was the bunkers being very rocky. The bunker sand looked like it was mixed pea gravel. Maybe that was intentional but I find it ridiculous for what the standard daily fee is. If you are looking for a good value in Yakima and not the novelty of playing the 17th hole then play Suntides. I went to High School with the original course pro at Apple Tree and even he doesn't feel there is any real value there.
Some very beautiful holes.. Great risk/reward
Must play for all Washington visitors One of the most diverse courses.. The holes are very different in style and difficulty.. A lot of elevation changes.. Not easy to walk...
