Amery Golf Club
About
Located an hour northeast of St. Paul, Amery Golf Club is located in what is known as the "City of Lakes," and so naturally water has a prominent role throughout the course. Built in 1922, the golf course is one of northwestern Wisconsin's premier courses. It has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling hills though it is still a very walkable course. You'll find water coming into play on half of the 18 holes, along with tricky doglegs, forced carries, and a slew of strategically placed bunkers. The diverse landscape of woodlands, wetlands, and hills provide plenty of variety among each hole. Amery Golf Club's 10th is a particularly memorable hole that sits wedged between two bodies of water and it also offers a stunning view.

Nice course
Course was in great shape makes you play a straight ball. Ball placement is a must on this course.
Amery GC
Was a bit of a drive to get to but the course was creative. Will go back.
Fun
Do I go for it or layup? That makes golf fun, so did the green. Tight pin placements and lots of sloping greens.
What a difference!
Two days before this round I played one of the most tricked up courses in the state of Wisconsin. I had never played either before but the Amery GC turned out to be a most pleasant suprise rather than the frustrating experience I had on the previous course. Amery is a well thought out course and takes advantage of the area's terrain rather than inventing holes. I have played on quite a few of the so-called Top 100 course in this country and I have never played on better greens. The Greenskeeper at Amery deserves any kudo's he may get. In fact he could easily be the GK at any of the high-buck couses anywhere in the country. I beat my handicap on this course but it wasn't due to any recently obtained skill I somehow acquired, it was the overall fairness and play of this fine course.
Nice Course in Rural Wisconsin
I played this course on my way home from a Family cabin, if not for that, I don't know if I would have made the 90 min drive from the TC to Amery however I was pleasantly surprised with the conditions and design of the course. Overall its a great course, worth it if your in the area and are looking to catch a round. The yardage is manageable and the overall conditions are solid. Worth a try.
Great value! Thank you!
Great service, nice staff! Course had some water saturation problems.
worthwhile trip
I played in chin-strap wind Sunday Nov.3 with 2 friends. The course had immaculate tee boxes, carpet for fairways, & really healthy rough that was thankfully cut down. Amery features rolling ground with a nice variety of looks from the tee. Greens are large with nice movement. Bunkers are well-placed, but the big defense is the reeds & water on the 5-pars. The course seemed very walkable, but It was good to have a cart to drive ahead for a look-see on our 2nd (or 3rd or 4th!) shots. No cheap home-in-twos at Amery! There was quite a discrepancy between the scorecard & the WGA markers from the 6250 yard tips (much longer according to the WGA). The only reason I didn't give the course a 4th star today was that the greens were quite slow & still bumpy from aeration. I have little doubt that next year when the greens have some speed that Amery will be a terrific destination. The members seemed to be interested in playing fast & can be justifiably proud of their course.
