I wish there were more like this!
Eagle Springs Golf Resort is as much as about the experience as it is the quirky golf. You drive through rural WI for miles and miles until you happen upon a little lakeside resort on a narrow road. The clubhouse is unassuming; it feels like you might’ve pulled into the wrong parking lot but the signs say otherwise. The people are welcoming and will walk across an entire fairway to ask how you’re enjoying the place. It’s surprise after surprise.
The first golf shot of the day is completely blind. My tugged three iron turned out to give me the perfect angle to a green that gave an eye-opening welcome. I don’t think it could be built today without people complaining, but that’s part of what makes this place so cool. The first two holes hit you hard right out of the gate and then it mellows out a little bit. It has a good mixture of solid golf and completely insane shot requirements. In my case, it was the perfect spot to stop between the Quad Cities and Milwaukee. It’s worth going out of your way to see; for the golf and the experience.
Jaw Droppingly Awesome!!!
I've been incredibly fortunate to have traveled & played a lot of golf far and wide over the past 50 years. Every season there's at least one big smile/tears of joy/thank you golfing gods surprise........Eagle Springs is just that. Every one of it's nine holes are absolute historic gems. The course is very well conditioned. The help is welcoming & friendly. The clubhouse is historic & charming. Tuesday is charity day. Bring at least two cans of food that will be donated to the local food bank - you play with a motor cart for $15 - just give them a Jackson and tell them to donate the Lincoln as well. Pictures do not do justice to what you will encounter. Easily in the top 10 of nine hole courses I have ever played. Highly recommended and on my agenda for return visit in 2021.
Wild greens and blind shots
I had wanted to play this course for sometime for the second hole alone. Course did not disappoint and is well worth the trip.
So much character
I adore Eagle Springs. I live about 8 minutes away and play this course as often as I can. I've never known a 9-hole course to pack so much character into itself quite like Eagle Springs does.
Hole 2, alone, is worth the price of admission
