Fire Ridge Golf Club
About
Fire Ridge Golf Club in Grafton, Wisconsin is a public course but it boasts the amenities and service of a private country club. It is not as well known as some other courses in the area and might possibly one of the state's best-kept secrets. The golf course stretches to more than 7,000 yards from the tips and was ranked as one of Wisconsin's top 20 toughest courses. Mature trees shape the numerous doglegs and there are also water hazards that come into play throughout Fire Ridge. There is an interesting mix of holes including challenging par 4s, with the most difficult being the 16th. There are no surprises on this tricky hole because it's tough enough on its own. Golfers should aim to keep it in the fairway and place the second shot below the hole, making sure not to miss the green long or else they're be facing a fast downhill chip shot.

Mr. Sandman... give me some clean.
Dirt traps need attention. Like, add some sand and clean out the stones. Otherwise, a very nice course.
Poor management
During our play. We arrived to find that an outing had been scheduled for the course. At no point were we told this or even should have been allowed to book a round during this time. We couldn't even finish 9 holes without running into this outing. This slowed the pace of play down to a crawl. We tried to see at the turn if we could play the front 9 again, however were told this was not possble and we would have to tee off behind the 4 groups waiting on the 10th tee box. We literally left the course after this and were very disappointed how the staff managed the course. We will not be back here again. If you can't manage your course you will not manage our money.
yardage markers
the course needs to do a better job marking the course for yardage distances. If you don't have some sort of GPS device, it will add time to your round.
Other than that, it is a very nice course
worst bunkers in wi
Add a little fly ash and water to the aggregate mix in what they call bunkers and you have cement jethro!!
This place will never be a destination!!! until they replace ALL their so called sand in their bunkers.
You will never call this course a premiere course unless they improve the traps!!!
Great Track
The course was pretty wet but considering the amount of rain that we've had lately the course was in good shape. I always enjoy playing this course. Lots of different shots required to score. Fast undulating greens. Don't short side yourself or get on the wrong side of the pin. A real test from the tips.
Great spring deal
The course was in good shape given all the rain and spring conditions in WI. The greens were at summer caliber. I played as a single under 3 hours and it was cart path only.
Fire Ridge
Coarse is in great shape for November.
Nice course, pace of play poor.
The course is beautiful and really enjoyable. Two problems we had were pace of play and lack of markers. It took us 4 hours 45 minutes to play because we were behind a foursome that was walking. There was a ranger out there but he was of no help. He couldn't even tell us which putting flag numbers we were playing. Also if you are aren't going to have GPS on your carts then you need to have better markers. Too bad because the course is beautiful and fun to play.
Needs some work
Ok course but has not seen improvements in a long time. Has the earmarks of a place that is being milked till new owners take over. Fun layout with great potential on a great piece of land.
Nice course!!
It rained for about a week prior to playing or the course condition rating would have been much higher. Even so, the greens were surprisingly fast and in very good condition. It's open enough to allow for some leeway off the tees on many holes but still challenging , I'll definitely be playing there again.
One of GolfNow's best Hot Deals
The Milwaukee area doesn't have a great public golf scene, but Fire Ridge is a solid choice at a good price when you can get a Hot Deal. Played this course three times this season, and it was always in very good shape (bunkers need work though). There are some challenging holes, a few easy holes, a couple gimmicky holes. The course is pretty wide open, but it never feels overly simple. I wouldn't pay more than $40 or so for a round here, but each time I was able to get a Hot Deal for $25 or less. At that price, a great deal.
Called in Sick
I've played Fire Ridge a few times, and always enjoy it. We had storms all morning so the course was a swamp in some areas, and very buggy. That said, I finished 18 in 2 hours and 10 minutes and the greens were in very good shape for the end of summer. Staff was great. Had a blast.
Thanks so much for playing at Fire Ridge, so happy to hear our staff made your experience that much more enjoyable!
Great day at Fire Ridge
Played 18 on a beautiful weekday. Booked thru GolfNow for a super rate. Played 18 holes in less than 3.5 hours. Cart broke down on 5th hole. Called pro shop and replacement was brought out in less than 10 minutes! Layout is wonderful. Several tricky greens. Not a lot of water but what there is is "sneaky". Really enjoyed the day and played fairly well. Definitely a great value near Milwaukee.
Excellent! Glad you loved the round and the cart was replaced in no time. Come back and see us again!
Booking options misleading
I booked a 7:30 tee time and did not realize (nor did I ever expect) that it was for 7:30PM not AM. There should have never been a 7:30PM option as it gets dark in Wisconsin in August at 8pm. I lost my $18 booking fee as a result. The people at the Club caught the mistake and called me the day before which I appreciated very much HOWEVER, golf now is to blame her (at least partially) for having this tee time as an option. I won't use this service again.
Thank you for your review and feedback. We appreciate you taking the time and giving us 5-stars. We apologize for the misunderstanding over the AM PM. We hope you will continue to golf with us throughout the season and we hope to see you again very soon!
A course that has fallen mightily
Fire Ridge years ago was one of my favorite courses with a challenging but fair design. It was always fun to play. I went out in a foursome this past Saturday afternoon and I was shocked at the poor conditions of the bunkers and greens. Standing water in a number of bunkers and greens that were so beat up with spike and ball marks, bare patches that putting was next to impossible. I've noticed this decline in the condition of the course the last 2 times I've played it. As an Ozaukee County resident, I will play Meekwon and Hawthorne Hills as they are in impeccable condition. While not as challenging, the value is clearly better. I do hope Fire Ridge invests in its course conditioning as it used to be a gem.
Thank you for the review and leaving your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time and are disappointing you did not have an enjoyable experience. We are currently working on course conditions and with your comments we can continue to improve. Please come back and see us again very soon with all the new changes!
When you book an online hot deal tee time there is no way to communicate to you what is happening that day out at the golf course. If you would have called for a tee time you would have been informed. They will see tee times on days there are outings especially when the outing is only 70 golfers. Next time maybe give the shop a call before you book a discounted hot deal online. that id the only way to know if their is an outing that day.
