very nice northwoods course
Fairways, roughs & greens were all in good playing condition. The front nine is a little easier than the back which has some forced carries, water hazards & woods.
This course requires attention to detail
Very challenging and fun course.... If you're a long hitter no need to bring a driver as the fairways are tight and many require a layup shot. Definitely will golf here again.
Should be Hayward Muni not Nat'l
Overall course conditions were average. Some strange hole designs with doglegs and odd tree placements. A standard resort/muni type course that could use some tlc and a couple hole renovations.
Back nine needs help
Front nine was good. Back nine had some weird holes.
Hayward National offers a challenging and beautiful setting. The staff is extremely friendly and they make you feel at home!
This course looks like it was probably a good layout and was probably build to attract the summer tourists staying in the Hayward area so therefore it is a fairly forgiving course. The main concern is the course maintenance which has not been kept up to it's original overall condition. The one exception is that the greens were in excellent shape. If I return to the Hayward area in the future I would definitely choose to play the Hayward GC which is very good track.
