Thornberry Creek at Oneida - Legends Championship Course
About
Situated just outside of Green Bay, Thornberry Creek at Oneida is perched atop one of the highest peaks in Brown County. The club offers 27 holes of golf with the Championship 18 and the original nine-hole golf course. The Championship Course presents plenty of variety, starting and ending with holes that are reminiscent of the Wisconsin Northwoods and a middle section that feels as though you've been transported to Arizona or south Florida. There are more than 70 strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout the golf course as well as 11 water hazards. Risk-reward opportunities are abundant though it is not a terribly punishing course so beginners shouldn't be too intimidated. Locals of the Green Bay area consider this to be one of the best public golf courses in northeast Wisconsin.

its not a country club but they think they are
Played a early round weather was perfect so was expectin the course to follow suit, first off guy a counter tell me its colorard shirt only and I thought it was funny told him quit acting like this place is a country club when its not. And as far as the golf greens were nice but man the geese problem out there is a joke with droppings all over many fairways and the fairways were wet some with puddles and you wonder why you get no roll at all, pretty disappointing with that aspect and the regular prices out here are a joke
nice course
Greens were slower than usual, but may have helped me hole a few more putts.
Great day golfing!
My brother and I are starting to get up there a little bit in age and we don't get together as often as we like. Plus, he is a member at an exclusive country club out west. So I wanted to impress him and take him to the best course around here and Thornberry Creek came through for us. The conditions were great, the staff including the starter, beer girl and restaurant people were all VERY friendly and helpful. It was a fun day golfing in spite of an errant shot or two.
Slow Slow Slow
We waited on every single hole. It was over a 5 hour round. Beverage cart was few and far between. We complained to the ranger about slow play and he did nothing. For being a premium course with premium pricing, I expected better than this.
Great track, Mediocre Service
I've played this course many times, but their service seems to have gone down. The guy at the desk in the Pro shop was kinda rude, telling us we had to pay when I showed him I paid online on tee-off. While I appreciate them having a ball/ club washer on the carts,I feel like them having someone at the end asking if you wanted your clubs cleaned was a great touch of excellent service. This course is not cheap to play, so the experience should feel a touch better. Overall, the course was a little soggy but in great shape.
Undulating Terrains
Thornberry is a very exciting course to play no matter if you have golfed a little or a lot! It has great eye appeal and has inviting scenery to traverse as you play each fairway. It is challenging as you first look at each hole but if you think ahead as you study the course diagrams on the score card you can get the feel of where you want to place the ball and you will find that it wasn’t so bad after all. There is a nice variety of undulating terrain as well as flat and wide open fairways. The greens are well groomed and be watchful of a few difficult sand traps. The water hazards are very playable. The staff are very accommodating and helpful out on the course as they are very watchful to see that play is moving along in a timely manner. There are very adequate bathroom and water stops on the course since it plays huge yardage if you desire to play the championship tees or if you go with the gold seniors or red women’s tees. All golfers can chose wisely to play your game to your caliber. Make sure you stop in at the “19th hole” since it has a beautiful seating area outside on a veranda with a overview of the putting green and vista of the 18th hole. You will certainly enjoy your day at Thornberry!
Nice Course
Thornberry is a nice course that winds its way through a upscale neighborhood. Some holes, numbers 1 and 18 in particular, are gimmicky but overall a fun course is really good condition. Pricing is a little higher than others in the area. The course requires yo to take a cart and I prefer to walk.
Great combo with Packers game
Course has a strong design with numerous ponds and wetlands in play. Though the 1st hole was the best on the course, a downhill, hard dogleg right. Course was overall in very good condition.
Nice comment but the collared shirt comment was in reference to another who cam in after I was done and nothing was said to him at all.And in Green Bay area almost none require a collared shirt just saying, but hope the course does get better than it has been considereing the lpga is coming there but it could be a money thing only is why there coming but good luck, considereing the course 2 miles away is miles better
How can you be shocked at having to wear a collared shirt? You state you have a 5-9 handicap, which means you have to play a lot of golf to get that good. Most every course requires a collared shirt, even ones that aren't nearly as nice as Thornberry. C'mon man.
golffreak68, I am sorry to hear about your experience regarding the requirement of wearing a collared shirt. We do pride ourselves as being the best golf facility in the way of condition and service. Our request for a collared shirt is minimal based on the experience we provide and I'm certain there are many other options in the area that can accommodate your lack of collar. Thank you for coming out and we hope to see you again soon; with a collared shirt of course.
