Thornberry Creek at Oneida - Legends Championship Course
About
Situated just outside of Green Bay, Thornberry Creek at Oneida is perched atop one of the highest peaks in Brown County. The club offers 27 holes of golf with the Championship 18 and the original nine-hole golf course. The Championship Course presents plenty of variety, starting and ending with holes that are reminiscent of the Wisconsin Northwoods and a middle section that feels as though you've been transported to Arizona or south Florida. There are more than 70 strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout the golf course as well as 11 water hazards. Risk-reward opportunities are abundant though it is not a terribly punishing course so beginners shouldn't be too intimidated. Locals of the Green Bay area consider this to be one of the best public golf courses in northeast Wisconsin.

A must stop if you're looking to golf in Green Bay
I have played the Championship course at Thornberry Creek many times and it definitely gives you a nice variety of holes in regards to terrain and playability. One hole you're navigating through the woods and the next, it's wide open prairie setting (with homes surrounding a lot of the holes). If you haven't warmed up on the range, the 1st hole will test you as it requires a precise drive off the tee to a down-hill, dog legged approach shot into the green. You can bomb it off the tee on most holes but some also require a strategic decision. The course does offer plenty of tests in regards to length, hazards, and protected green complexes so a good round can get ugly pretty quickly.
It has a more resort feel than it's neighbor (Brown County) and other neighboring courses as this area has a lot of parkland type golf courses with the exception of Royal St Patrick.
My most recent trip was a month after the LGPA tour event and the course was in great shape. They host a ton of outings throughout the year and that can have an affect on the greens as I have experienced them beat up and worn out at times.
The new practice facility is an awesome improvement to the previous range with a better short game area.
For what I paid on a Friday morning before 9am, it's definitely worth checking out and the clubhouse is awesome.
I have not played the 9 hole Iroquis since the renovations but it is a gem as well and look forward to getting back there when I only have time for 9 holes
Great Fall Round
We were the first foresome out on Sat Oct 1, course was in great shape. Greens were aireated 10 days before so they were still pretty bumpy, but that is fall golf around here. A beautiful course in fall.
Bunker Fever
Early fall tee time. Greens had been aireated. Fairways in tees excellent. Thornberry is a beautiful course and is well maintained. There are many fairway bunkers and unfortunately the wind made me find most of them. It, of course, was the wind's fault. A very good value and even better value through Golf Now.
Recommendable course
Great course with nice variety. Better to play during the week, otherwise the pace of play really slows down.
Very nice experiance
The course was in great shape. It's a fun, challenging round. Play was a bit slower than ideal but that happens. Beautiful setting. Give it a shot, especially if you can get a deal on golfnow. We got 18 holes + cart for $20/per. Awesome deal!
Great Course
Played here for a quick round of 18. Course was great people were great food was great.
Outstanding Packers Golf Experience
I really had a great day of golf at the Green Bay Packers home course. The staff was so friendly, courteous, and helpful. The course is in excellent shape. The greens were fast. But maybe fast due to the 90 degree heat - was so thankful for the cart and all the trees on the course. Some really beautifully scenic holes and who can complain with Packer logo on hole #1. Some confusion navigating around the course. Some slow players who took several holes before asking me as a single to play through. Absolutely fantastic clubhouse with a great view for post game food and libations.
its not a country club but they think they are
Played a early round weather was perfect so was expectin the course to follow suit, first off guy a counter tell me its colorard shirt only and I thought it was funny told him quit acting like this place is a country club when its not. And as far as the golf greens were nice but man the geese problem out there is a joke with droppings all over many fairways and the fairways were wet some with puddles and you wonder why you get no roll at all, pretty disappointing with that aspect and the regular prices out here are a joke
Great conditions, nice layout, five stars
Played the tips and found it challenging but fair. Tee`d off at 6:30 which was perfect. No one in front of us, no one in back pushing us, and on a holiday yet! It doesn`t get better than that. Bar/resturant was very nice; much better than one would exect at a public course.
Great course
This course is awesome. If you are in the Green Bay area it is a must play !
Great Course
The only thing I would change is more attention to the bunkers. Other than that the course was amazing!
Well kept. Challenging.
Lots of challenging holes. Greens were super fast, took some getting used to. No gimme par 5s. Friendly staff. I'll be back, considering joining!
Great Day
We had a great time finishing our round in 3 hours. The course was in great shape especially for spring.
Great Deal
The course was not busy at all and i golfed 18 in under 2 hours. In beautiful shape and love the layout. Give it a try-you will like it!!
Challenging and Picturesque
Enjoy yourself as you meander through this exclusive piece of golf heaven. Many well-placed bunkers will keep you on your toes. Greens were fairly easy to read despite being recently aerated. Wide fairways on some holes do help with drives. Plenty of water to contend with on some holes. Play smart and you'll have tons of fun. $28 in the middle of the afternoon. Great deal!
Can't wait to come back!
If this is the conditions in mid April, wow! Can't wait to play this course when nature allows grass to grow and takes the spring mushiness out of the fairways. This course should be on anyone's list for the Green Bay Area.
Disappointing
Poor quality airation of the greens made for a really disappointing experience.. Greens were unplayable.. No ranger to monitor pace of play got stuck behind a slow family all day long .. I paid $19 with cart which is hard to complain about but the fine folks at thornberry made 19 dollars seem like I paid too much
Seems more like a private country club!
Although the course was wet from a LOT of rain recently, it didn't affect our game too much. The conditions and surroundings make you feel like you're at a posh country club. Everything was first class, except maybe our golf cart which could've used a tuneup. I hadn't played it in a while but plan on playing it as often as I can.
A little wet but still a GREAT course
We received a lot of rain earlier in the day but the course was still in great condition!! We nearly had the course to ourselves and our foursome enjoyed a casual round of golf.
A challenging but fun round of golf
It was our first time playing Thornberry Creek and at first a little intimidating, but it turned out to be quite enjoyable. There is enough challenge for the seasoned player and still quite playable for a beginner. The course is beautiful, but at the time we were there some fairways were very soggy due to recent rainfalls and also in areas a little beat up due to many non replaced divots. Th facility is first class and we enjoyed our play there.
Nice comment but the collared shirt comment was in reference to another who cam in after I was done and nothing was said to him at all.And in Green Bay area almost none require a collared shirt just saying, but hope the course does get better than it has been considereing the lpga is coming there but it could be a money thing only is why there coming but good luck, considereing the course 2 miles away is miles better
How can you be shocked at having to wear a collared shirt? You state you have a 5-9 handicap, which means you have to play a lot of golf to get that good. Most every course requires a collared shirt, even ones that aren't nearly as nice as Thornberry. C'mon man.
golffreak68, I am sorry to hear about your experience regarding the requirement of wearing a collared shirt. We do pride ourselves as being the best golf facility in the way of condition and service. Our request for a collared shirt is minimal based on the experience we provide and I'm certain there are many other options in the area that can accommodate your lack of collar. Thank you for coming out and we hope to see you again soon; with a collared shirt of course.
