Last Time
I hadn't played Drugan's for about 3 years but it was always a favorite of mine. We played on a Friday morning in September. The course was in rough shape, mainly the greens. No Fall rates, no golfnow deals. $46 is over priced for the shape it was in. Also we got stuck behind a 5 some of older guys that were walking. They finally let us through on 8. There was a single behind us that kept running up on our tail. Back 9 there was a 4 some in carts that were holding up the whole course. No ranger, no beverage cart! They spent the whole back 9 looking for balls. It was so slow that the 5 old guys walking caught up to us. I won't be going back.
Golf course management needs to be better
I have played many courses in my golfing career but few have made us feel as uncomfortable as this one. A young group of workers seemed annoyed that you are there to play golf and that you are taking up their time. A major complaint is that in 3 months that they have been open, they still have not placed a yardage marker to gauge the distances of the tee boxes to the 9th green. What would it take to place a sign (even if made with a magic marker) to give us a sense of how far the green is from the tees? A few minutes of their time?
What golf course allows boom boxes on carts playing music? Have you ever heard of that before? How about a 6-some playing a round of golf together? Do you know how frustrating it can get to take between 5 1/2 and 6 hours to play 18 holes of golf? Where are the rangers to help speed up play? The greens either have winter burn or were not watered as the grass is dead in way too many spots. In terms of a beverage cart, we only saw it twice in 18 holes. The first time on the second hole. Here is a suggestion- how about one beverage cart for every 9 holes or place more water out on the course? I believe the main objective for a golf course should be to get the casual golfer to join as a member but it's as if their attitude is simply they do not care whether people join as a member or not. If it's just another job to them, I guess I understand why the experience is what it is. They are certainly missing the boat with the experience that we had. There are plenty of golf courses that do it right so why spend your money on this one?
Rude management
Management complained about Golfnow and how they are ruining the game of golf because of hot deals. We felt like they didn't want there but couldn't say no because we already paid through Golfnow. Very rude and asked how much we paid for the round.
Always great
Best condition of any course around. Greens in fantastic shape even in November. Love that this course stays open as long as possible too.
Great layout and conditions
Although it was very wet, course was in good condition. Challenging layouts on half of the holes, extremely smooth and fast greens. Well maintained. Late in season, clubhouse doesnt open until 0800. Highly recommended.
Great course
Very nice course. In good condition. Challenging but not punishing. Very much enjoyed it.
Solid For this Area
Great value with the GN hot deals!
$46/round is pretty standard for around here, but I would rather play at Fox Hollow for less.
Back 9 plays a lot tougher than the front.
Aerated greens
Course was great minus they aerated the greens on Thursday & we played Saturday morning. I wish I would have known that before showing up.
Course is a changing
I have played here for years and their prices keep going up and up! Now they are changing a hole from a 4 to a 3 just to build condos! Way over priced for this area!
Doing lots of repair work on nine. Downed trees are laying in the rough on many holes. They are cut up but just laying on the course. They need to be picked up.
Drugans Castle
Nice course, I'm an outer towner, I liked the course, conditions were very good all around, greens rolled great and very quick. Eagled #1 and after a couple of three putts and a bogey was one over for the front. Back nine not as successful, quite a few bogeys and shot 77. Only difficulty I had was judging the greenside rough which for me was sticky and difficult to make good contact. Good to go, I'd play there again.
Nice course
It is a bit short even from the blues but the course is in beautiful shape. I will play here again for sure!
Has Potential With a Few Changes!
I've played this course multiple times and feel it's overpriced for what they offer. Yes it has beauty being that several wholes are built into the bluffs but the course conditions aren't any better than other local courses like Trempealeau mountain and Ceder Valley both can be played for a bit less. I've never found the staff very friendly either made tee times and find out upon arriving they have an outing going on, have paid full price without being told they were aeriating, they leave the mud nubbs on the fairway!
Course is great - Expensive for area
Their regular rates are expensive when compared to other courses and what they charge in this area. If you can get a deal of some kind then it is a great value.
High rates for a basic golf course
This is a decent course, I've golfed it more than 75 times in the last decade. However, they are the highest price basic no frills course I've played and no longer play there. The only real "deal" I've seen from them is the early season "match" the price of a course within 50 miles. The food is good and in general the employees are great as long as you don't have to deal with the lady in charge. She is inflexible, most likely the reason the rates are so high.
