The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Sunday Morning
I was lucky to get out before the Phillies game on Sunday and before it began to rain. The course was in great condition and I was able to get out early enough to get finished in three hours. $46 to walk on a Sunday is amazing and the course is always in great shape. I just wish they would convert 14 back to a par four.
Worst pace of play I’ve seen on a golf course and we waited on almost every shot. Left after 12 holes
Pleasantly surprised
Had to finally come play after reading mostly good reviews and got a hot deal.
Tees, fairways and greens all were in good condition.
Lots of doglegs and expect to see others on your fairway.
Some of the bunkers were empty of sand and just left for grass to grow. The bunkers that did have sand were good.
I enjoyed the course and will come back to play now that I’ve seen some of the holes with specific landing areas.
Needs Work
I have played this course many times throughout the years and it has never been in this poor of a condition. I don't know what they are trying to do with the "bunkers", but almost all greenside bunkers are now half filled in with crab grass. on the 16th hole the bunker was half filled with a huge pile of dirt and half with crabgrass, every lie was impossible to hit from and basically resulted in a 2 stroke penalty. There are many courses in the area you should play over this one.
Nice round at very good course
Look forward to playing this course again. Good rates and nice course
decent value for the money
I play Shannondell a fair amount of time because it is so close to my house. /there are a lot of older golfers there who are not the fastest golfers. most are friendly and will let you play through as happened to me on this occasion.
I was able to get a Hot Deal on Golf now so the price was right.
the course was in decent shape and the staff was watering and maintaining .
Some of the sand traps appear to be purposely neglected as I assume they are letting them grow out and will no longer traps
Some of the holes are on top of each pother and it is easy to see a cart on your fairway from a group playing a different hole
But the fairways are in good shape and most of the greens are too. I will be back to play again
Course in great shape
The course was in excellent condition. There are elevation changes, bunkers, water, and greens that have challenges.
Sand Traps??
Have not played this trak this season. Looks like they are doing away with most if not all sand traps, which is a shame. Overgrown, NO sand and weedy grass where it used to be a sand trap.
Too cheap to put water out
Slow play, no water, no cart girl. Played in 95 degree weather for five hours without so much as a garden hose. Course is fair at best. No ranger, backed up all day.
