The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Good was in good shape
Enjoyed the course , was well kept for the most part.
Starter was rude though. Other wise I enjoyed the day.
Tight layout
Very tight layout with lots of "Fore!" callouts. Course in very nice shape and staff could not be more friendly. Great warm up area for your short game, but no driving range. Great 19th hole as well.
Great for someone returning to golf
I am returning to golf after a 10 year hiatus. The course suited me very well. Challenging enough to force me to think about my shots. Forgiving enough when the shot in my mind did not correspond to the shot that I made.
Thoroughly recommend to any trying to discover or rediscover the joy of golf.
I love Shannondale!
Awesome Country Club. I was so impressed with the restaurant, showers, locker room, the conditions of the course and even the huge pool, that I inquired about a membership. Nice spot for a great price.
Great place for golf
Friendly staff and good service. A place to enjoy the outing.
No Water On Course
Course is in great shape and greens difficult but fair. For summer golf, be warned there are zero water coolers on the Course, no Ranger with a water cooler, and no drink cart.
Good Course
Nice layout, good condition. Pace of play was very slow - not sure why a ranger can't go around, but all in all worth playing.
Course was closed
Drove 1 1/2 hours to get there and found the course was closed due to rain the prior day. It would have been nice if someone sent me an email or text to let me know.
Hidden Gem
Wow! I play this course quite often and yesterday's conditions were spectacular. They redid all their bunkers this past Winter, including rebuilding the drainage systems under each of them. Such a pleasure to have NICE sand traps at a PUBLIC golf course.
The greens were in great shape and the way they have cut the fairways is really nice too, in that they have the fairway, then a "first cut" and then the taller rough. Similar to how nicer clubs have greens, then the fringe and then the apron and then the fairway. It is a very nice touch!
Keep up the great work, guys. It is much appreciated!
