Petrifying Springs Golf Course
About
Petrifying Springs is the flagship Kenosha County Parks. It is the oldest and largest park in the system, enjoying a stunning landscape of deciduous trees and rolling green hills. The 18-hole golf course was opened in 1936. Enclosed by abundant trees, the course is scenic to say the least. The peacefully secluded atmosphere provides an ideal round of golf. The layout boasts a "sporty" design that is challenging but playable. The fairways are lined with trees and strategically placed bunkers frame the well manicured greens. There is the occasional water hazard one a few holes but water does not pose a major threat. Petrifying Springs is not the most formidable test, but it is great for a casual round with a spectacular setting. The golf course is also one of the area's better values.

Awesome
I love this course played here for the first time a month ago and three times since. I’m also taking lessons from Josh ⛳️ and he has changed my game immensely!
Good Old School Value Course
We play Pets every Columbus Day. We had our best weather in years and the colors while muted are starting to pop. It's a nice old school parkland track and it's very well maintained...best shape I've seen it in late season in several years. The greens were aerated and were a tad bumpy but very playable. You need some local knowledge to attack this track....lots of hills and dales....the 1st two holes are short and sporty but the finishing three holes are brutes. I always enjoy Pets....you do have some blind shots but not too many. We had some really difficult pin positions this day and some of the greens have severe back to front slope in them so your short game will be tested. No range they do a have a small practice area but this year a net with mat was set up. Great grill and old school state park clubhouse. Always a solid 3.75 stars and worth a play twice a year....4 stars plus yesterday.
Very challenging
Definitely one of the best golf courses around
Professional grade to say the least!!!!
fun day of golf
course in very good shape, pace of play, (our own) great day
Very good condition - painstakingly slow
Even with all the rain in the area over the last 2-3 weeks, the course was in very good condition. However the pace of play was horrible. After waiting for almost every shot, when we arrived at the ninth (par 5) tee, there were five groups waiting to tee off. This after another par 5 on the previous hole. Isn't this the rangers job to see this doesn't happen?
Beatiful landscaping
Need to wartch the slope on the hills, ball tends to roll away.
Dry course
Love playing Petrifying Springs. Great course with awesomely undulating greens. Just really dry right now and hard to get a divot. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
Course was in excellent shape. Only compliant was it got really slow on the back nine
Well Maintained / Excellent Greens
Cart paths designed into this course are very questionable. Otherwise, hats off to the crew who maintain this polished gem.
beatiful weather
the weather was beautiful so the course was busy, but even with the number of golfers we finished in good time
This course has great views of the very wooded area
This course was in excellent condition and the staff was very helpful on how the conditions of the greens were in and how to approach your shots as well. I will definitely be playing this course in my rotation of places to play and recommend this place to others.
