Petrifying Springs Golf Course
About
Petrifying Springs is the flagship Kenosha County Parks. It is the oldest and largest park in the system, enjoying a stunning landscape of deciduous trees and rolling green hills. The 18-hole golf course was opened in 1936. Enclosed by abundant trees, the course is scenic to say the least. The peacefully secluded atmosphere provides an ideal round of golf. The layout boasts a "sporty" design that is challenging but playable. The fairways are lined with trees and strategically placed bunkers frame the well manicured greens. There is the occasional water hazard one a few holes but water does not pose a major threat. Petrifying Springs is not the most formidable test, but it is great for a casual round with a spectacular setting. The golf course is also one of the area's better values.

Well Maintained
Pets is a nice track. Only issue this time of year is that they have aerated the greens.....and the old school greens are what makes this course fun. It was like putting on a mine field the day we played. Suggest waiting until next year to play Pets when the greens are in better shape. Charging $32 was pretty steep......course is worth $20/$25 at best with current conditions. That being said best maintenance I've see at this place in several years.......with some very challenging up hill par 5's and par 4's. At all costs don't get above the hole on the 9th and 18th......guaranteed 3 putt or even a 4 putt.
First timer
First time playing Petrifying Springs, but I will definitely be back.
Great value
Booked tee time through golf now. Got a great deal that made the day inexpensive. Played 18 with a cart. My 14 year old son and I finished in under 4 hours. He scored his first birdie with a 70 yd wedge shot. He was ecstatic!! Can't wait for tryouts at the HS next week, he's ready!!
Great course! Ride a cart! It has some hills.
Amazing course great condition. Greens were in decent condition and ran very well. Not to easy but not anything crazy so it was nice. Would recommend this course to anyone interested in playing a round of golf.
Great day for gold
For the drought conditions we have been experiencing the fairways and greens were in excellent condition.
Rock hard ...
Fairways were rock hard and greens were slow. This is a very old course with a lot of very tight fairways and densely wooded areas. Bring your chainsaw.
Nice course
As a beginner golfer I found this course challenging. The slope of the pin placement were tough to read. A few holes you were hitting up hill. Tough but fun. I would golf here again.
Pets
One can score low on this course. The hills make the course interesting. The key to scoring well is to stay below the hole as often as possible.
Pets
Really nice place to play and eat! The course was in great condition and the food was very good!
Great Layout
First time playing Petrifying Spring drove down from Milwaukee. Well worth the drive, we got caught in the rain. Instead of Leaving we waited 30 minutes and finished. One of the best courses i played in the area.
Great
Always play here and it's very well kept with great conditions
Springtime in Wisconsin!
Course was still a little wet, but good condition. Greens were very puttable. Losing alot of trees in the area to disease.
Pets
For this time of year the course was fanfrikintastic no leaves on greens or fairways greens tough. Lots of fun
Great conditioning
Excellent course with good selection of tees.
Excellent pace.
Tougher than you might think
Nicely laid out no par 5s on the back nine although 17 plays long if you dont crush your tee shot. Greens are nice not too tricky but fun
Saturday afternoon playing pet's
Besides it being very hot and muggy, it was great, good playing time( under 4 hours) course in good shape, had a little trouble on the greens though, everything was short.
the course was nice
slow playing because of people walking so bad and frustrating waiting every hole because of the people walking
Good
Good stuff man. I like the grass. It is good. Will go again
Fun Day of Golf
Had a great time playing with my son and two we were paired up with (Chuck and John). Our biggest challenge was the wind. Great course!
